A friend told me about this site today: Learning, powered by imagination. - Memrise Really excellent and quite fun way of getting started in a language - and a load of other things. I've been revising my Spanish. Haven't learnt a whole let yet that I didn't know. This is to be expected - I'd be a bit sad if I'd forgotten this level. But I'm enjoying it anyway. I will definitely be revising German and starting Italian. Might do a bit of Chinese too, after all, it's all free and it beats wasting time on video games (not that I do, much). Have fun.
Thank you Glid after a crash-course learning curve curbing my initial laziness and adapting to the software, I find the persistent Memrise reminders of the same phrases very helpful for my failing memory - they even remind you via an E-mail and give you the option of continuing where you left off. Considering it's totally free I think it's excellent - 9/10 EDIT - Sadly the 'Help me remember this' part of the software using pictures didn't help me at all/not specific enough but it hasn't put me off.
The mother-in -law is Italian, Italy has been my holiday destination of choice for the last few years and my limited language has been such a frustration, this is just the ticket and so addictive. Grazie glid. Steve
I started using memrise earlier this year after hearing a radio discussion on it. Then forgot..so downloaded app and start again!
Because unlike every other englander... you want to pronounce tagliatelle properly when you're in the local restaurant...
Nice one Glid. I need to start learning a few European languages, to,fit in with the retirement plans of 'motor home round Europe' in due course.......
