Wanted 851 M1R marzocchi forks and yokes and fairing screen

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by scraggs, May 12, 2013.

  1. As per the title I am after a set of conventional marzocchi front forks and yokes to try to get my 1990 851 back to original.
Also looking for a screen for the same
    Regards
    Keith

  2. Make them a offer mate it's a buyers market!

  3. Look closely at those forks, the top yoke is from a 906 or 907, which are different forks to 851. 907 are longer, 765mm from top to ctr of spindle. 906 might be too. 2 different types of M1r used on 907, 300mm disc and 320mm disc. 906 forks used the older 2 pot brake calipers with 285mm disc. Make sure they are correct before you buy. When you get the right set I have the correct mudguard and brace if you need them. cheers Keith.

  4. Thanks for that Keith
Apparently the only year that will work is a 92 907ie, but the seller doesn't know what they are from or what year so think I might give them a miss.
I have the option on a complete front end off a carbed 900ss with usd forks, although not what it should be it will work better than what is fitted atm.

  5. 907 forks are definitely longer than 851, I had a set of 851 legs that I had fitted to my 907 for a while. 907 are about 30mm longer. 90-92 legs all same length. Variation in caliper mount height only.

  6. 888 and SS yokes are the same. I used SS yokes on my 907 when I put showa usd forks on it last year. Not a straight swap, the M1r stem is 1mm thinner and the 907 headstock bearing cups are smaller too. I had to source odd size taper bearings and also pack them out top and bottom to load them. No big problem with a bit of thought. The good news is the steering stops line up and the Ignition/steering lock fits and works with a bit of grinding.
