Wanted - Power Commander 3 For 1000ds Engine

  1. I'm after a PC III for a 1000DS engined bike, either a 711-411 or 717-411 unit. If you have a spare unit that you're willing to sell then please let me know. Thanx in advance - Quackers.

Apologies, I can't help you source a unit itself, but if you do find one I have several downloaded and adjusted maps I could let you have.

  3. Isn't CJS (Chris Steadman ?) in or around Bristol? Just get your ECU remapped, much better and more reliable.

  4. But nowhere near as much fun playing with it yourself

  5. @Quackers
Are you set on a PCIII? I have had several and they all failed eventually or did wierd things

It's fairly trivial and cheap to read and write from the Marelli ECU in the DS1000
With a 15 quid cable, guzzi diag and Tune ECU (and other apps some free some commercial) you or your tuner can backup your old config and up upload new maps directly to the the ECU.

If you are in Bristol CJS/Louigi Moto in Clutton can do it all for the you and are worth the money but there are plenty of outfits capable of getting in to that ECU directly

  7. Agree with @funcatronic, PC3 on my 853 was a waste of money, lasted all of about 4 laps before developing an intermittent fault. Junked it and made do with the stock eprom. Andy

  8. Thanks for all your replies. It’s all good advice as always, particularly that relating to Chris Steadman. I'll follow that up, although if anyone has a PCIII that they're willing to sell it'd be nice to have a fallback.

  9. My issue with getting somebody to remap the ECU is they don't want to do it quickly, or when I want it done.
I tried 3 places when I wanted my M1000 done, and the quickest anyone would look at it was 6 weeks away, and that was winter time.

Also, two of them said they would charge me to drill out the exhaust plugs and fit new ones as they always needed doing.
When I explained that I had already removed the plugs and refitted them, and would make sure they were free before dropping the bike off they said they would charge the money anyway as it was part of the cost if it needed doing or not, I think @£75.
Anyone with that sort of attitude doesn't get my money.
