Wanted: White Frame 900SS or SL

  1. Looking for a nice, original white frame SS, ideally 1991 or 1992 model, don't mind, prefer restored. I'm no mechanic so needs to be basically sound.

Had one last year but sadly had to move on quickly and now have the funds for another.

PM me if you have something or know of anything coming up for sale.

  2. there was one on the bay, it was white frame black wheels

  3. That was a stonker, sold in a couple of days, just over three grand, one owner bike.

  4. He offered it to me for £3k then 10 minutes later text me to say it was sold, would like to have seen it first but 150 miles away. Agree, it was a cracker but I just couldn't move that fast on Saturday. That's only 2nd one i've seen on ebay in about 3 years..

  5. I'll spray mine white for £3K ;)

  6. I would expect a fully restored one to go for more than 3k. My 91 bike probably owes me about 5k, plus at least 100 hours of my time.

  7. I'll pay over £3k for the right bike.

I like the idea of a restored one but as you say Gilps anybody who spent that amount of time and money makes it difficult to put a value on it, and a nice original one (imho) is probably worth more.

  8. Thinking of selling Gilps ?

  9. I don't think I could afford to sell it. I had a lovely unmolested Mk1 SL with only 6k on the clock which I stupidly sold in 2010 to pay for my wedding. I held on to my Monster S2r instead. Muppet. I regretted it ever since so set out to build a 91 SS and return it to as new condition. The idea was to build a bike that would essentially be as good as a brand new bike for less money than a new one, that would last me for 10 years or so with minimal aggro and fuss long term. So that's what I did. No expense was spared. The motor was rebuilt and blueprinted by Louigi Moto. Everything was stripped and serviced. Ally was re-anodised. Rubbers replaced throughout. Paint work refreshed professionally and datatag removed. It looks like a brand new bike and runs well. It's worth far less if I sell it than it cost me to build but it's worth every penny to me.

  10. There was one at the Newark auto jumble for £2300 but I did not take the guys number :-(

  11. A clean half faired white frame 750SS has just popped up on the bay of dreams

  12. Thanks Carlos - just up the road from me so I'll have a nosey. It's been for sale for a while, not surprised at that price. Prefer a 900 FF....call me Mr Picky.

  13. Only 10 bhp less

  14. Tricolour

  15. non matching numbers, still a nice bike but not worth much more than £2000

  16. Thanks guys, looks OK, shame about the engine thing ......

  17. just saw that myself : ) ^ I think he was at Six Bells Chiddingly on Monday.

  18. I think he's a bit optimistic with his buy it now price. It's been dropped at some point. The side panels don't match, each from a different year and neither from 1991 model. The mirrors should be painted red too, not black from later model. I would allow for an engine rebuild too unless it has proof of one in the last 20k - the engines from that era suffer from the loose oil gallery plug problem and when that lets go it can be expensive. I would say it's worth about £15-1800.

  19. :(
