Warped Front Disc Rotors

  1. I am having a battle with Ducati to replace warped frontdiscs under warranty. The initial warranty claim from my dealer was rejected byDucati Technical on the basis that it was "fair wear and tear" - whatbo**ocks!!. My bike is 18 months old and has done less than 9k miles.
    After some correspondence they have agreed to replace the discs only underwarranty but new pads, bolts and labour will be down to me.
    More correspondence and I now have to go back to the dealer so they can providerun out figures and measurements on the discs to Ducati. Fingers crossed thatthis will do the trick and Ducati Technical will replace all parts underwarranty.
    In the past I have always found Ducati to be very fair on warranty claims - andI have had quite a few over the years - is this a taste of the future under thenew owners?.

  2. If they've agreed to replace the discs then it only seems fair to me that they should stump up for everything that comes with them and that includes labour....I had mine replaced under warranty but it had less than 5k on it iirc

  3. Oh Lordy, I jumped ship from a Triumph Tiger 1050 after a third set of discs warped after 12 months and 4000 miles and they refused to replace them. The first time was prior to my ownership, the second time they only coughed for the discs, I had to pay for pads bolts and labour. The third time I voted with my feet!I hope its not a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire"!My brakes paranoia had only just subsided, I'm now going to feel every ridge in the discs. "Matron, more drugs required, the twitch has come back"!

  4. Yes i need to contact my dealer about getting new tyres fitted under warranty- they have worn out after 10,000 miles

  5. don't bite, don't do it, don't, ahhh feck it...
    so you reckon a bill of circa £600 (for a trumpet, let alone a dooocateeee) for 4000 miles and 12 months riding is acceptable, cos I sure as s**t don't?

    twitch, twitch

  6. Brakes don't warp for no reason, and in over thirty years of riding I've singularly failed to warp a disc. Are you sure it's warped, and not just some pad material deposited on the disc? Do you ride with your fingers covering the front brake? Does the disc 'float' freely on the carrier? There could be some debris bunging up the buttons that hold the disc, preventing it from moving around.

  7. This is going a little off topic cos I'm talking about a triumph but, to answer;
    1 yes I'm sure, as was the dealer
    2 no I don't, and I would class myself as a "light braker"
    3 yes it did, I regularly (after my first set) cleaned the bobbins to make sure.
    in summary trumpet are well known for the fragility of their disks which turned into a deal breaker for me, that and their attitude...

    Step forward the multistrada, oh joy, I no longer look like a one week novice bobbing to a halt at a junction, I can now see straight when braking from speed ( no juddering) fingers crossed all is fine with my fab multi

  8. Had mine replaced under warranty can't remember what the mileage was but there was no charge, apart from squealing when wet had no problem since.
