It seems Ducati dealers can't put the official used warranty on a Ducati that is over 6 years old. My old 1299S at 5 years and 11.5 months, just qualified for the warranty, and Ducati did offer to extend the warranty for 1 more year, but it was something like £650. Now I'm thinking about another 1299S but the aftermarket warranties seem dubious. Whereas Honda will put a warranty on their bikes up to 15 years old. Does anyone have any positive experiences of the likes of Car Care Plan etc?
I think extended warranty is flakey. Once the factory warranty has expired on my cars or bikes I never extend. Some people like peace of mind which is fair enough. But not me. If anything goes, I’ll take the hit. So far so good.
Officially extended factory warranty, yes, if you can justify the expense for the peace of mind. Anything else third party, I don't bother. Just my 2 peneth.
I’d never, ever entertain 3rd party warranty. The minute you try to claim they’ll try to wriggle out of it. As you say, factory/manufactures warranty only. With extended warranty you quite often have to leave your vehicle absolutely bog stock. Which is a sticking point for me…
