We Buy Any Bike - Thoughts?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by yellowducmaniac, Nov 30, 2022.

  1. Been looking at changing my ktm 1290 sas, got a couple of part/x prices from dealers against Kwak 1000sx ninjas, but out of interest keyed in the ktms details in 'we buy any bike' online, they came back basically offering 2k less than the dealers average trade in price...has anyone actually dealt with these people?..if so what's your experience been like?

  2. I've not sold a motorcycle to them, but i did have a quote from them about two years ago for the 996/998, i think it was on a friday or saturday, which was a lowball price, but they phoned me up on the monday morning and offered much more money which was interesting as it was a pure exercise on my part.

  5. If they’re like we buy any car then they make you an offer without seeing the car and then, when you go along, they find lots of reasons to reduce their offer.

  7. Mainstream bikes seem ok. Specialist not.

  8. Bottom line, they are in business to make money. Add another grasping hand to the part exchange chain and the profit margin is squeezed even more. The person who suffers is the initial seller …. you. That said, some people seem to advocate it. Andy

  9. If you want to sell your bike quickly and youre honest with what youre selling them theyre a doddle to deal with.
I sold an 899 to them a couple of years ago.
Forgot to mention id removed the mirrors and the guy who rocked up tried to knock silly money off.
Said to him ill leave it then mate and he quickly changed his tune and transferred the agreed price there and then.
I would recommend if youre happy with what theyve offered.

  10. Iirc it’s just px pricing. Then they stick it thru one of their dealerships.

  11. They will offer large to get the buyer out to you - he will find lots of reasons not to pay you what they offered though
I knew a guy that worked for them. He got a basic salary but the real bulk of his wages was made from a percentage of the reduction he actually paid for the bike after finding all the 'faults'
Having a wedge of cash in the van can be a great persuader too

  12. No different to a main dealer. They might retail it themselves or just off load it to a trader. A lot of variables to affect the bottom line. Andy

  13. I sold one to them, but declined another.

They offered an ok price for an oldish r6 5sl - turned up and was one small scratch I hadnt declared, plus I had used the tyres on track so tried to know it down quite a bit saying needed new tyres. I was about to decline when he said they have sent a better offer only 100quid of the original price. The guy was decent enough, explained how it works, felt he was as much on my side as could be (For basically a salesman trying to make a profit can be) and ended up having a good chat while he spoke to office/got it all sorted.

The other, dont even get me started - the guy was just an arse from the start. Went over bike, said would take 40% off, I said why so he gave me a list of things which were pathetic like worn pads all round - they were less than 300 miles old as bike hasnt been used so just wheeled it back in garage and said no thanks. He said "let me see wht can do" but I had enough of his BS by then.

So, 1 good, 1 bad. Would I use them again, possibly yes - saves the hassle of tyre kickers and time wasters so all about how close to the price they would be. The R6 was as good if not slightly better than trade in prices offered for it so cant complain

  14. Have sold a car through webuyanycar and it was simple, quick, and pretty close to a private prices, but without the advertising hassle. Worth at least a look I reckon.

  16. I’ve dealt with the van version, more than happy with what they gave me which was 18.5 on a van I paid 18.5 for new but with my added 12k in mileage.

The bike side I’ve tried but the trade in were either the same or lower than a dealer trade in so not worth the hassle for me.

  17. I’ve had a price from them on 3 occasions. Each time it was a minimum of £4k less than the p/x price.

  18. I've had 2 dealings with webuyanyCAR, both years ago but +ve from my point of view.

The first was a 2.8l LWB Shogun that wasn't worth a lot and I just wanted shot of.
Their online valuation was more than I'd expected, and of course it was reduced when I dropped it off.
But they still paid me about the same as I'd had it advertised for on Autotrader for a couple of weeks so I was happy.

The second was a 3.2l LWB Shogun that I'd put big miles on and hadn't hadn't been offered what I wanted for it on Autotrader.
They gave me a great valuation online, but this time it was reduced too much for me to accept when I took it to them.
The guy was polite enough and I didn't take exception.
The next day I had a call out of the blue from an independent Mitsubishi dealer in Devon that I hadn't spoken too before. The guy said he'd seen that I had the Shogun for sale and could a friend of his take a look at it that afternoon.
I was sceptical until the Guy from Webuyanycar turned up with a big smile on his face and explained that he knew his friend was looking for a new tow car for the business, my Shogun was ideal and he knew they could pay more than WBAC would offer.
He paid just a little under what I'd advertised it for, but I was more than happy.

  19. About a year ago used car prices were nuts. Just for shits and giggles I banged in my car details while I was waiting for the Mrs to get ready- you know the score fellas…. And I very nearly sold it!! Glad I didn’t but I was sorely tempted by the price they offered. I’d imagine they’re back to their piss taking normal now though. That ship has sailed…
