Wet Dash

  1. Do you think I should get it replaced?

I spoke to the dealer about it and he said he can replace it under warranty, but it will just do the same again with in a few weeks

  2. Definitely get it replaced - it just shoudn't be letting the water in! I've had my Mutley for over 18 months now and numerous washes/downpours haven't resulted in the dash going like that so it's got to be faulty.

Hopefully the replacement will be more watertight.

  3. That will come back to bite you once it's out of warranty!
The connections inside will be corroding with the water ingress and before you know it something will stop working.
Get it replaced while you're in the warranty period or you're looking at the sharp end of a grand to replace it.

  4. Are these clocks 100% sealed? Clocks on some older bikes have a filtered vent at the bottom somewhere and any condensation would slowly dry up in dry conditions. The air inside needs to be able to expand/contract with change of temperature surely? Gentle heat from say a hair dryer used to do the trick.

Has anyone inspected the multi clocks when off the bike to see. Or are they solid state with no air pockets? If so defo replace with that moisture inside as said before. I take care never to allow water to spray at the clocks from below when washing the bike in case there is a vent. So far no problems.

  5. Got an old 2003 multi known for water in the clocks. Mine has had a clear plastic bag over it since the first week of ownership.
Sealed all edges and connectors with vasaline which I replace every 2 months.
Made up a rubber.deflector out of an old car mat to stop water splashing up onto the clocks.
It looks a bit sh.t but my bike lives outside its.used.in all weather's and has just clocked up.16000miles in under 2 years.
Get it replaced then look on multistrada.net they probably have a solution our someone that can fix it for you.

  6. apparently they have a gotex filter in the back, it's supposed to let it breath and not let moisture in. what a crock of shit.

Just after this pic was taken I dried the bike off and you could see in the small screen on the lens droplets of water forming inside.

  7. It was a well known issue with Aprilia Tuono's for years... drove me nuts and the dash failed completely the day before I went on a trip to France. Luckily my dealer had given me a S/H spare dash a couple of weeks before but I had to enter a service code every time I started the bike on the trip.

  8. Mines doing the same! Multi gt 2013 !! Ffs

  9. I cannot believe this statement from a dealer , Hes basically saying whats the point . Fucin wanker IMHO

  11. That's why I'm asking on here, It's made me feel a bit let down to be honest. it's a 2014 bike I was told this model has had all the problems ironed out.

  12. Have you just washed the bike there or has it just been out in the rain?

  13. Not sure if either should matter unless your going at it with a power washer ?

  14. got one on mine at 2500 miles new one is still good

  15. just washed and about to dry and wax. but the screen was like it before I even got the bucket out (the wash bucket not the bike)

  16. Washed mine more than I'd like to say and hasnt let any water in. Mist up when its cold sure, but no water..

  17. I've had mine replaced the other week. 2013 and newer the total mileage is recorded and incremented in the ECU permanently . They simply send it back to the clocks via DDS when replaced , or so I was told. That said they forgot to do it when they replaced mine, so Ive got "----" as my total mileage at the moment. A two minute job to have it done apparently and they will do it when I next swing by.

  18. Thanks....that's interesting, I wonder if that's the result of a ECU 'software' update i.e. the same should be possible for my 2010 bike that had a new Dash a while back?

  19. Ok Ok I can take a hint.
