1200 What’s This Wiring Under My Seat?

  1. 2405B351-6DEC-47E9-8B74-2E689D0E6D17.jpeg Found this lurking about with some bodged insulating tape all over it. Don’t know what it is. Could it be the feed to the power outlets under the tail by the pillion pegs which currently don’t have any wiring connected to them? DBB34BA5-DF76-4FE7-96A6-BA08A03F0ECF.jpeg

  2. I remember the outlets connectors having that very same layout because I tapped the rear for a trigger wire to a relay

  3. So should this block connect directly to the power outlet by the pillion peg? Which happens to be shagged.

  4. Yes. I’m guessing it’s shagged because it’s been exposed to the elements all this time.

  5. AF2CBC38-BFD2-45C6-B3CC-3B93E3137B9A.jpeg It’s dropped to bits, all the pins in the socket have gone awol. I see that the previous owner has drilled a hole into the compartment under the pillion seat, most likely to charge a mobile with this wiring. Here’s the rest that I removed

  6. I never used the oem sockets myself. Awful idea in my opinion (everyone moans about iPhones and laptops having to have adapter dongles, why have it on your bike).

Take the opportunity to rig yourself up a dual USB port charger or something actually useful.

  7. On mine it's the power supply to the vibrating seat pad. I sit on the bike for hours but rarely leave the garage.:D

  8. Yes that's what I'm going to do, I'll check power with a multi meter tonight. Don't suppose anyone knows where I can get the male part of the connector?

  9. They’re basically just spade connectors and you could use normal spade terminals but if you want the actual connector it’s just a T config.

  10. Keep them if you plan to use heated gear while riding.
