Spotted John Mcguiness on the IOM stand at the bike show. What a pleasant guy he is. Was more than happy to chat for ten minutes and let me have a picture with him. Nice to meet a legend and it all turn out so well.
Met him a few times in the IOM & events around the UK, he’s always the same affable easygoing, he says he actually enjoys talking to fans, the only thing he doesn’t like is people telling him riding the TT is going to be the end of him, he’s a professional racer , knows only too well the risks and it insults his intelligence to be told that, I saw someone telling him he should think of his family!, it didn’t go well
Genuinely, that shocks me! Who the fuck would say such a thing to one of the best TT racers ever? To think that anyone would think he is so stupid that he doesn't understand the risks. How the fuck would anybody think they need lecture him about risk? The only person who has the right to do this is another TT winner.
I read somewhere once that before every tt he would now the lawn before he went so that if the worst happened his wife would have one less thing to deal with. “Legend”
He did say in my chat with him that whilst an honour to ride SMBH's Ducati around the Island the bike was just awful and he said I take my hat of to that guy to be able to go as fast as he did on it.
