So after many hours scratching our heads, we've come to the conclusion that whoever installed the alarm in my bike must have took out some of the original wiring. Alarm's been pulled out, but we've these plugs left over. I should add, the only thing working right now is the neutral light on the dash, we did have it turning over at one point but now it won't even do that. The yellow plug went right into the alarm, not sure what it should go into now.. Also not sure what the capped plug from the ECU is for.. We're assuming the socket on the left is from the rear brake, not sure what the right is, but there's nothing to plug either into? Bike's a 996 Biposto. Appreciate the help lads. Pictures of what it should look like would be golden
The capped 3-pin socket is a diagnostic connector, the 2-pin under the seat needs to be 'linked' - mine has a plug with a loop between the connectors, if unplugged then the ignition & fuel pump won't work. The connectors near the right-side footrest looks like a brake light connection, they plug into each other. Edited to add; you need one of these for the underseat connector;
You're a life saver mate! We've botched one of those plugs with a spare wire and it seems to be working. Gonna have to order one of those plugs though
I've no idea if Ducati sell them or how much it would be but you could buy the connector for a couple of quid (ebay) and make your own.
Well we've used a plug that was off the alarm and just taped the two wires coming out of it together, but they're a bit flimsy compare to the ducati ones going into it. I'll get onto ducati in the week for a proper one. At least it works again
The plugs are known as Ampseal connectors, you can get one from eBay or try Vehicle Wiring products. I doubt Ducati will actually sell you a plug only the relevant part of the loom, which is probably not now available.
^^^ Agreed my datatool alarm main board went and I had loads of problems as it was an intermittent fault. Luckily I got a main board off eBay for quite a decent sum so it was easy to fix. Later style alarms forget it!!!!
Datatool are the most unhelpful bunch of bastards I've ever come across. Rude with it, too. I'll never go near their alarms as long as I live. In fact I got a dealer to remove a Datatool alarm from a bike before I'd agree to buy it.
Here's the connector, less than £2 for both the plug and socket; Genuine AMP Tyco TE 2 Way Superseal Electrical Waterproof Connector Kit | eBay
Nice one. Thanks for the help guys. We literally spent 6 hours removing the alarm on Sunday. An hour to get it out, and the rest scratching our heads. And I got sunburnt!:Banghead:
