Going along tomorrow to see what there is. What deals did you get on quality stuff, or did you go for Taiwanstan tribal leathers, cowboy boots and magic healing bangles?
I wanted to pick up the Shoei Xspirt Tomizawa helmet from Helmet City, but they wouldn't negotiate on the price, so I walked. I ordered a new rear light cluster and some R&G mirror blanking plates. Oh and a coffee I didn't see much in terms of bargains, just seemed to be a lot of shit they can't shift, but maybe I wasnt looking in the right place
(keeping on topic here) I saw/bought no bargains but was most disappointed not to see more DucatiForum people including you of course Matt.
None - only thing I bought at the show apart from lunch was Nathan Milward's book about his ride from Australia to the UK on an ex post office little bike. Wasn't specifically looking for any kit this time round. However, also remembered after the show that there was a sample sale today for People Tree (my favourite clothes company) so dragged the other half up to Brick Lane and bought 2 skirts and 2 jackets.
A Nitro helmet for £60; the Shoei I normally wear is five times the price, but I wanted a cheap spare just in case I take a pillion occasionally. Also an inflatable pneumatic seat pad for £50, might save me saddle sores on long trips.
I never saw a thing Officer... It was over a fiver for a hot dog...I came away hungry and empty-handed:frown:
Some suspicious looking bloke comes up to me, one of maybe ten thousand people crammed in a small hall, and says, "You must be figgy..." What are the chances..?
freaked me out Matt - how did you have a drink with Fig at 17.42 before he met me and L outside for 18.30?? i'm supposed to be the one with the time machine..
nathan milwards book Riding Dorothy is great read, met him last year, lovely guy, what a nutter, total inspiration
Yep, and it's a pet hate of mine. It seems this year like they knew there would be less people through the door so hiked the prices of everything. Last year it was just over £3 a pint, this year over £4. Only wish my wages went up so freely:frown:
Its a pet hate of mine too. Places like ski resorts take the piss big style. You have to hunt out bars that charge reasonable rates otherwise it just gets silly. A few years ago we went to La Tania in France. The place had three bars. Two were in "town" (such as it was), and the third was a 500m walk up the hill. The bars in town charged €10 a pint. The one up the hill was €3 a pint. It was worth the couple of minutes walk. I prefer good quality chalets though now where everything is included.
I had a look round the stalls at the show, and there wasn't a huge amount in the way of bargains. The cheaper stuff was proper tat and the more expensive stuff wasn't much of a bargain; I guess that's the ebay effect, the sellers no longer need to use the shows as an outlet to get rid of old stock.
Couldn't find anything to buy...but there again didn't go with any shopping list. Nevertheless nothing really leaped out n grabbed me ...apart from the honey on the Ducati stand.....and then I woke up!
You obviously didn't see the girl collecting for Help for Heroes. I followed her for two hours. Cost me a fortune:frown:
They wouldn't do me a deal for cash on a soumy vandal I wanted. I got an Apex two rides later the vent broke.. Sent it back to Helmet city and I assumed ( maybe I'm stupid) they would just swap it . No it had to go away.. It seemed to take ages so I said to them any idea what ex happening ? I got a rude reply back saying we only just got it .. ( I paid for special delivery ) It was really blunt .. It cost me £15 to return as faulty. My lid has come back scratched ( I can't proove was them or whoever fixed it ) And I returned everything incase they where funny and wanted to replace it including helmet tool. Came back they have lost the pod tool I would have prefered to upgrade to the vandal. Also the great " show offer" I checked online and it wasnt any different to usual price !!!. I won't be buying from then again .. Need to contact them. I had cash to haggle and they did not want to haggle even for cash.
