Ok so what gloves does everyone wear? I would prefer a pair that have a wrist strap on the back of the wrist, sport style gloves, i have tried on a few pairs and glove sizing seems to be all over the place!
Alpinestars GP Pro on track, Dianese Jerico in the cold and wet and a Ducati branded Dianese airtex for summer. Looked at the Knox today but the shop didn't have a pair that fitted my shovels. Bought the girlfriend a pair of Furygan FIT-Rs which are made from goat leather and according to my girlfriend are very comfortable and according to the salesman are very hard wearing. If I had to have one pair, it would be the Alpinestars no question. Andy
Got myself a new pair a few weeks ago. I tried on dianese, alpine and others but none of them felt as nice on as the Knox handroid. My old faithful revvit felt so supple but lasted a decade, these feel almost as supple and I haven't worn them in yet. A bit of a google showed a few people out there had problem areas on the Knox handroid but a quick look in the shop showed they've made adjustments to these previous problem areas.
Various Dianese for me. Their fit is spot on for my hand and finger shape. You got a decent bike shop near you where you can try a shed load on? That always makes these things much simpler. Buying bike gear, clothes etc over the internet is always tough for sizing. Especially true for bike gear that has to fit well..
Agree with nothingfaced. Don't go with a pair in mind, go by fit and feel. In my head I was coming away with the top £250 Dianese ones but they didn't feel right. Neither did the Alpine GP Pro but the £150 Knox ones felt awesome and ticked all the boxes. Kangaroo leather doesn't feel as stiff as the usual stuff but is just as tough.
At the beginning of this year I bought a pair of Held Phantom II gloves. They are the best I've had in 35 years of biking and I've had the lot. Highly recommended.
Until you've tried on Held Titans or Phantoms, you won't appreicate how good they are. Had the first generation Phantoms before, now got the first gen Titans, never had better gloves!
I've heard nothing but good things about held gloves. Often the word "revelation" is used. Will have to give them ago once the new Knox are dead.
What you've got to do with gloves is try them on until you find a pair that fits. I had a friend that used to work in the industry and got me to try on all of the gloves they had of one type in my size. First pair one glove fitted great but the other had flappy fingers etc etc. When they cut the leather it cuts layers of leather and gives differences in each layer. So if you want a specific glove make sure you can try on what you want. My recommendation is with gloves made by five. I have a pair of Ducati branded five gloves and a pair of Fives own gloves. I won't ride in anything else anymore. And my daughter loves them too.
Arc-on and Held are top banana for protection/comfort. I have a pair of Arc-on and am very happy with them. Not crashed in them but Ride mag rated them very very highly in their test.
