What is a double bubble screen?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by gliddofglood, May 12, 2012.

  1. Excuse my ignorance but what exactly does "double bubble" mean when applied to screens?
    Advantages?
Is the OEM one on my 999 a double bubble?
Any good recommendations for a tinted one? I like the OEM shape as it is.
    Thanks.

  2. Double Bubble usually has a larger surface area and a higher upsweep resulting in the wind blast being directed higher.

I've found mixed results, being 6'3" the result is that often the wind gets directed straight into the face!

  3. Yup what Rob said....

  4. Being 6 4 on my carby ss, i have a double bubble, the origional pushed air at my chest, and the Double pushes it to my shoulders, but i can crouch down and get under to wind blast, not sure if it does anything for aerodynamics but it looks much better than standard:upyeah:

  5. Except mine ...........but considering I'm a shortar*e, even mine is too low for me.....

I noticed a few light scratches on it from storage (should polish out) and are shown above. They would only photograph in direct sunlight which picks up every detail. Hardly noticable to be honest.

Oh and cat not included, hes just helping

  8. Oh lordy!

Bugger the bike, my other half needs a double bubble. (just kidding xxx )

  9. I have one on mine, does make a hell of a difference at speed/cruising. See the extra peak in it, plus you lose that horrible light/lump.
