From one of the Facebook groups, all sorts of bizarre answers, but what is it anyone? Edit; behind gearbox sprocket.
To me it looks very much like a lockstop lug has broken off the bottom yoke with screw and locknut still intact, has then found it's way back along the bike, got caught in the chain and been driven into the engine case. It's highly unlikely I know.
That's an interesting one! Really can't be bothered to go and take my bike apart to see if I've got a thingy there ... One of the theories on Facebook was that it was to adjust clutch fluid pressure!
Could it be items 36, 66 and 35 from the attached IPC extract, which appears to be some form of detent mechanism (threaded bar/washer/locknut/spring/ball bearing) Which may act on the gear selector drum (holding selector drum in selected gear). Pure speculation on my part, should probably check with a professional before removing/adjusting.....
Yeah I was thinking those parts as well but had no idea what they might do. Certainly not something to be messing with!
It is indeed to adjust the clutch oil fluid pressure There was a workshop instruction issued to Ducati back in 2018, to check this if neutral was difficult to find with engine running Procedure to check and adjust the clutch fluid pressure All models with adjustment threaded dowel from MY 2015 to MY 2018 Service Repair Bulletin SRV-SRB-18-028
Clutch oil pressure adjustment!, don't think we had that when I was a lad...... Revisiting my earlier post, looks like the selector drum detent mechanism is actually items 7, 8. 9 and 10. View attachment 265818
