What is the point of...

  1. Busses outside of main cities or heavily built up urban areas?... Round my way, there never seems to be anyone on them save a couple of Grannies (who essentially don't pay for the service anyway). They cause untold congestion, are bad for the environment, the drivers are mainly road hogging tossers who thing they can randomly pull out without indicating, and (when I caught one a couple of years back) were more expensive than my local train...

not having a rant, but I just don't see the point of a vehicle capable of carrying 60+ people mainly being empty. I also understand that some of our taxes go on subsidising this service... Why can't they just use smaller minibus type vehicles?

  2. You make some valid points. Not a fan of buses. Noisy and smelly

  4. The routes into town from the surrounding villages in my area now take in more villages between the end points than they did 20 years ago so if you want to do a 10 mile journey into the town centre it takes over an hour instead of the previous 25 minutes and that's valuable time at home if you're using it to commute to and from work.

Get that time down to where it was before and keep the cost down to below that of a day in a town centre car park and they may start to get more use.

  5. Peak times buses other hours minibuses, cuts cost, congestion and wear and tear on the roads.

  6. Fancy standing in the local election? I'd vote for you just on that

  7. No valid points at all. That granny has no means of getting anywhere other than thru subsidised travel on buses, which if you and others have their way wont exist. With the advent of closing post offices, loval shops and even pubs which could have branches out, I guess letting them fester in their own home is acceptable, eh

  8. are you serious? We don't live in a 3rd world country. Friends, family, Age Concern, local community support, local shops... All these spring to mind. If they can walk to a bus stop, then surely the will be able to survive? Also I pointed out about replacing big buses with small ones...
