Hi all, What is your experience with changing the OEM tires with another type? My Multi is not about to see any off road so I need tires only for street. I would like the bike to feel more sportier, to lean better into the corners, have better grip and to be more sporty oriented. Would this happen with switching to Michelin Road 5 / Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE, or I should go to e.g. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV? I also make a lot of mileage in the city so I am afraid that this would "eat" Diablo Rosso very quickly. Thanx
Sounds like you need a dual compound sport touring tyre so the two that you've mentioned, Road5 and Roadtec 01 SE, would fit the bill perfectly. Others are available of a similar ilk. My personal favourite is the Road5, I did try an earlier version of the Roadtech and went back to Michelin but that might just be me. There are some YouTube reviews on this class of tyre, have a look at those maybe. The sportier tyres such as a the Rossos will give you ultimate grip, marginally better feel and possibly faster turn-in but riding around the city they'll be wasted really and will wear quicker.
For me, the new Roadtec 01SE is the perfect tyre which IMO, is a much better tyre than the outgoing 01. Andy
I've switched to the roadtec 01 Se, and they do give me more confidence. I'm not the fastest rider out there by a long way, and I'd be quite happy with getting another set of scorpions .
Thanx for quick replies!! So, those 2 tires are an improvement over the OEM Pirelli Scorpions, regarding cornering and road driving? Thanx
To be fair, the Scorpions are not a bad tyre, the Metzeler and Michelin are more tarmac road focussed. Andy
I agree they are nod bad, but I wonder if Michelins Road 5 or Metzeler 01 SE are more sportier and have better grip and are easier to lean? I wouldn’t like them to be more touring oriented and even less sportier than Scorpions…
I hate the scorpions with a passion, hard plastic nonsense that have no place on tarmac on anything with more than 50bhp, hateful things. Take a look at the Bridgestone T32's they are a great tyre.
I’d rather have rubber bands strapped to the rims than those horrible things! Anything is better. PR5 work great and ime the bike tipped in easier and was an inch taller in the seat
Angel GT II 's for the win. Excellent grip in all condiitons, good mileagle as well. Good touring tyre
