What Sort Of Annual Mileage Do You Do ?

  1. Renewed the MoT on my Multistrada 1200 yesterday and surprised to see, despite some pretty awful weather in the first 3 months of this year, I still managed to ride 7000 miles in the preceding 12 months. That’s on top of about 10,000 miles per annum in the car.

I know there are contributors to this forum who do big annual mileage but am idly curious what mileage others do. Andy

  2. I’m about 4000 mpa on bikes.
    Probably 15-20k in car/van.

  3. I was on about 15k a year when i was commuting.
Thank god i dont have to go through that abject torture anymore.

  4. I'm doing less and less. I am at the point where I wonder whether to pack it all in. This may be my last track day coming up. I may just sell and concentrate on restoring my 916. I always got more fun spannering and the bikes have become less spanner freindly these days.

  5. I do about 7000 on the bike/s and 12000 in the car.

Once upon a time I used to do 50000 miles a year in the car. Felt like I lived in the bloody thing!

  6. Looking back I’ve done 12k on the bikes and 8k in the car

  7. The simple answer is not enough on Bikes, too much in the car, and in the last year Zero on the water. :(

  8. 5k in the car.

10k when full time commuting on the V Raptor, which although wasn't abject torture I'm glad of the Covid intervention which means I only now have to do it a couple of times a week at most. Which is enough to keep me eye in.

I hear you... hence my time with the Darmah and looking at a possible single or guzzi purchase along with a full refurb of the Raptor. I've even idly thought of going up the lump hammer engineering route with a tractor - storage is the obvious obstacle there. Ho hum.

  9. Sickens me when i look back and think what i paid in service costs.
Effectively two services including a desmo one every 12 months £££ :sob::sob:

  10. I did all my own servicing & luckily the motor in the Raptor is a Suzuki TL so as long as the oil/filter is changed every 4k & sparkies every 12k pretty much nothing else needed doing. In 70k miles I think I only needed to adjust a couple of valve shims...

Having said that I did spend quite a bit of time in the garage doing wheel bearings, brake disks, caliper cleaning, reg/rec replacement, chain/sprocket replacement, rear exhaust seal, wheel removal for tyres etc etc.

Winter commuting can just kill bikes and the cost is either time of money... & I'm tight with me money. :)

  11. I've done 6k miles on the bike I bought off you Andy last February. A couple of hundred on my little SS and just under a thousand on my superlight in a year.

  12. I do nowhere near the miles i used to. Optimistically, maybe a couple of thousand miles at best but likely less.

I peddle over double that yearly. I too have thought of packing it in but I just can't imagine life with no motorbike whatsoever.

I can see me just having my monster though. Might turn the hyper back into money.

It's strange, when i do ride, i enjoy it but just don't get out enough.

I've had my 1100evo for 11 years and it's a keeper but my hyper doesn't have the same attachment.

  13. About 15k a year in the car, has been as high as 30k in the past. 500-1000 miles a year on two wheels due to being a fair weather rider and working away from home all the time.

  14. Not much on the bike, maybe 2K a year. Between 60 and 85K per year in the van.

  15. Around 20,000 annually with two bikes. Been at that level for the last ten years.

  16. The office is in the centre of Bath and I just can't bear the traffic when in a car & which is why I like the commute because, for want of a better word it 'forces' me to use the bike.

Otherwise I wouldn't have a specific reason to use it and taking it out for 30 miles or so aimlessly driving about somehow seems pointless. And using it day to day when you do have a reason, going to the shops, visiting relatives etc can feel like a hassle when you can just jump in the car & go.

Years ago when I had a dog slow BMW R45 with panniers (for the shopping) that was my only vehicle so perhaps the answer is to sell the car.

  17. I used to do about 12k a year on my bikes, when I was happy to wear heated gear and ride around in crap weather, but as I just ride for fun, can’t really be bothered with all that now.

As a result, I probably do around 6-7k now. Only having a small window to ride each week, and our notoriously crap weather generally puts paid to me getting out on the bikes as much as I’d like.

  18. Not enough really, Monster 12R is six and a half years old and just this week turned over 9k miles. When the do get time it seems the weather sucks…

  19. I've always been an all year rider and all my bikes have had high milage, but I do look after them. My current bike will be a year old on 10 June, and I'm currently on 10,010 miles, all pleasure miles. 4 short but long distance tours and lots of happy miles around the twisty B roads of Northern Ireland. :)
