I need to replace my old Dell computer.Only want it for emails, bike porn, etc.I am looking at a Toshiba satellite at the moment with a 17 something inch screen.Anybody have any thoughts good or bad on the Toshiba laptops? Thankyou.
Buy a Macbook Pro. But someone will freak out coz I said that. But you are a discerning fellow and a Mac would suit you sir. I dont know anything about windows laptops. Sorry. BTW you missed a comma between - bike and porn.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro with Windows 8.1 installed. It's been a good machine and I have had no problems with it. I have had a few minor problems with windows 8 etc. but it's pretty good at getting sorted out, and the roll back feature in it has saved me a few times. I got mine from here Cheap Laptops, Ultrabooks, Tablets & Laptop Deals at SaveOnLaptops , cheapest around when I got mine 11 months ago. I am totally happy with it and would buy a newer model when the time comes and I would certainly consider a Toshiba as a front runner. I have 2 TV's by Toshiba also and they have been faultless too.
My ASUS was cheap did what it said on the can and never let me down - just bought a big touchscreen Dell jobby for the 'family'.
I have a big "touch screen" family pc. I've never touched the bloody screen yet. Unless you count dusting the screen and and then it fucks stuff up.
For what you need absolutely any modern laptop will be more than fine. its hard to buy a shit laptop these days unless your actually after decent processing power for certain programs. if your made of money then why not buy the MacBook, but honestly what's the point, it's just spending for spendings sake and it won't do anything a £300 job from pc world wont do, not for your requirements anyway.
I still think it's possible to buy a shit laptop!! But if u stick to a brand like Sony or Dell u can't go far wrong
If you want to spend your life worrying about viruses, anti-virus software updates and your computer being turned into a netbot, buy a PC. You will also be able to worry about different versions of Windows too. If you just want to use the thing and forget about it, buy a Mac (like the 13" Retina Pro, or a Macbook Air - the difference in price is very slight). Yes, it will cost a bit more, but at least it will come with all the software you require, all of it will work, and you won't have to worry about it. Job done.
I've recently bought an iMac 27" and I'm a convert. They aren't cheap but they are a nice piece of equipment.
Couldn't have put it better myself. I've just been given a Lenovo laptop for work, loaded with Windows 8 to replace my old XP version. The old one was ok, if a little tired, but Microsoft have stopped supporting XP so it had to go, now Windows 8 is just a mishmash (IMO) seems really clumsy to use, and the actual laptop doesn't have a cd/DVD drive, no "mouse" buttons, and is so sensitive on the touch pad that it makes using it a real chore. I'm still waiting to see how much the company imposed anti virus software will affect performance, but if previous experience is anything to go by, it will be massive.
Spot on. I have both a MacBook Pro Retina (personal choice) and a Lenovo 430 (given to me by work). The MBPr knocks the Lenovo for six in every area except one: the Lenovo keyboard is more tactile for fast typing.
Dell latitude e series - theyre like the ford escort of laptops - everyone's got them and youll be able to get spares and upgrades for years to come. Dead reliable - magnesium cased and most importantly they've got a docking port connector. Get a port replicator as well, plug it into your telly and use it as a media centre box as well. howzat. All of my kids have e series latitudes with docking replicators in their room so they can watch films, play games, do whatever they want - and take it with them as well.... One of them has been down the stairs twice and still works fine.
Yeah - first the laptop then her...! No seriously - theyre very reliable - we have about 100+ deployed in my workplace and they've been very good - had 2 motherboards switched out in that time.
