So I have this 999s ECU and I have been told it is a race or DP ECU that doesn't care about the clocks being used on the bike and hopefully it doesn't have an immobiliser option activated as how do I tell if that is true or not, is it possible to know from the markings on it shown here? If anyone knows it'd be appreciate...thanks
Looks like a stock IAW59M ECU. If immo has been disabled in it then you will be able to run a 749/999 without clocks. The issue would be the data not being shared from sensors over the CanBus system. I have listed these in another post. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/wh...out-buying-dashes-and-keys.39465/#post-699082
Thanks Chris - if I try to start the bike without clocks would it just not work if the immobiliser is still switched on in the ECU or could I do some damage to the system by attempting to switch electrics on without the clocks?
Excellent thanks Chris - I guess it'll either work or it won't! I have checked the wiring and the 998 ignition key switch is identical to the 999 so I can use the key switch I have - one result anyway. Onwards to figure out the rest
As Chris says, that looks like a standard 999S ECU, of the 59M variety going by the "early" silver stickers over the original white Marelli stickers. It won't be a DP ECU as standard because they all came with a red/white sticker instead, but that doesn't mean that it's not been reflashed to have the DP maps on it and also may have had the IMMO disabled. By default the DP ECUs don't have IMMO disabled completely, they just don't lock to your key so they can be used in any bike.
Hmm so I bought the ECU on the basis I was being sold a DP race ECU from a member on here - I will check back with him to see if he has sent me the wrong one or I've been stiffed! :-( Presumably I can check the IMMO setting with ducati diag can I?
