I was chatting with a mate of mine over dinner last night and we got around to discussing a piece of Ducati memorabilia he has. Its Troy Baylis's 1st place trophy from Donington in 2008. Straight after the race TB signed it and gave it to my friend as a thank you. I was joking with his wife saying that when he pops his clogs I'll take it off her hands. They seemed surprised that it may have any real monetary value. Personally I think its worth a bit of money and discussion turned to getting it insured, but for how much? It was TB's only win at Donny, plus it's Ducati and TB related. So what do you think it would sell for/what's it worth? He's not looking to sell it.
Imagin you have a TB wsbk winning bike in your pleasure room. How much would you pay fr the trophy to match?!
I told my mate he had a trophy wife the other day. He wasn't so happy when I told him it was because she has big ears
After visiting day of champions last year and seeing signed caps going for a hundred or so think trophy will go for a lot more to the right person. Just a thought if your going on eBay try the AUS eBay.there is a site similar over there but can't remember it, even tho lived there a few years....
the thing with Day of champions is stuff always sells for a lot more than anyone on ebay is willing to pay - you have a much bigger market at the day of champions as its personally signed in front of you - you have the chance to meet the riders and its for charity rather than some ones pocket on ebay - I collect a lot of memrobillia and first hand have seen something sell at day of champions to end up on ebay a few weeks later and sell for a fraction of what it was initially bought for - just my thoughts
