What Would You Be Asking For?

  1. I brought my first brand new bike this year, apart from some issues and not impressed by the dealer and after sales service, I had a full termi system fitted and the mechanic damaged the bike, well the frame to be exact. Now there is about a 5cm deep scratch on the frame.

The dealer has agreed to fix it, and put it right, and as the title suggest

What would you be asking for?

    Frame swap?
    Touch up Respray?
    Full Frame Respray?

  2. frame respry would be my bet. but what ever bike it is, its a massive job and i doubt they'd be in any rush to do it.

  3. I'd be wanting the fact they admit responsibility in writing not just verbal in case they change their minds.................

  8. Smart repair to frame, I would not want my bike stripped to the frame for a full respray, accidents happen , a good localised repair and it should be unnoticeable.

  9. Spot repair the frame. Not a big job at all and no different to a scratch on a car.

You may be better off having it repaired by a genuine bodyshop if the dealer doesn't have painting facilities. My 1098 had a scratch repaired on the frame by the previous owner at JHP and it was terrible. They used a solid red paint instead of a basecoat / clearcoat and it was the wrong colour. I had to repair it correctly myself.

  10. Apparently they will send my bike to a paint shop but I want to know the shop and if check them out first I want it done right.

  11. A well recommended chips away type would be my preferred choice as they are used to repairing in small areas and can come to your house to do it so you can keep a eye on things, I have had 2 lots of minor repairs done on my red golf this year and both repairs are superb and I am a fussy fucker.

  12. A professional repair to the damaged area and a £100 off my next service would do me..

    I think that's fair:upyeah:

  13. I think because it's your first new bikeyour expectations are high you might be dissapointed.

They are unlikely to replace the frame or strip the bike down to respray the whole frame.

I would do as most have suggested, get one of those chips away type fellas so you can see them do it at home, get it in writing that this will in no way effect your warranty, get some money knocked off the next service.

Be honest, on the strip and frame respray, given your opinion of them now, would you trust them to strip, do the job and then put it back all together?
