Hi all, just wondering if anyone who has or were thinking about purchasing one of the Enduros what are the good and bad points, anything to watch out for. Cheers
..delay in getting enduro-package & race-exhaust.. Buy a dash-screen protector & fit it straight away. Get all the extra kit at time of purchase because you can riggle a ten percent discount out of the dealers & free fitting. Got my navihalter gps mount & denali powerhub2 distribution system done by them also with small additional charge. Only had two minor errors; fob went to sleep so that I had to rub it up against the antenna zone to activate ignition (replace battery not happened since) & got a DSS error one early morning to work. I recon that I must of just hit start & rode off before the system cycled its test frankly, again hasn't reappeared. I've had 404 miles out of mine with steady riding, regularly get 350+ even with 80-90mph progressive riding. I will be sharing a full spread of images & views on my duke at somepoint when the remaining kit is added. Annoyances are few, wind noise is extreme at hooning speeds even with all the different screens available. Not had the small carbon one but others state on mutleys that that is the one too go for. But as I have a navihalter+gps the standard & puig race screen which is perfectly adaquately keeps things slick. I've got a full-on puig touring screen & palmer products screen adapter but both do not reduce wind noise over 60mph. Its basically such a large bulky bike wind & also rain is drawn into the body position & stays there. I got soaked proper on my first day of collecting my bike. My eldest brother stopped his car it was that bad for a smoke. I laughed about how heavy the rain was as it must of been the worst I've experienced in a few years! I've also invested in a airhawk medium touring seat cushion as I was only able to do 150mile trips but now have no issues with elongated blasts. The bike is very heavy so when I fill it up & rock it off the center-stand I also put it down on its side-stand before mounting. Fella that also brought one & I've seen him a couple of times at aylesbury pulled into fill the bike up for the first time. Rocked it off the stand & proptly broke a hand-guard & mirror by not preparing to take the extra fuel weight added. Mine takes just under 34 liters if I push the red-flashing phase of the fuel guage. When you run out the bike turns off engine power & even if in gear seems to activate the clutch to a rolling stop. Cleaning the bike has demonstrated that the paint finish on the wheel hubs is thin as a anorexic sufferer. So at some stage I will prehaps get the hubs repainted. Scuffing the paint with a course scouring pad & stone chips have taken there toll. And using a almax-IV chain has again added small marks but nothing I get angry over. I might think of something else too add.
Hi I sat on an Enduro at the dealer but even at 6 foot it felt a little too big for me (er.. Plus I couldn't afford it), I bought a 2nd hand GT and even find that takes a bit of getting use to after filling and getting off the main stand, TCW
Having just got off I can confirm other gripes now. The indicators in the handguards look good but don't alert people/cars beside you of your intention. So it would of been better to have then on fairing stalks as per other bikes. And handguards bash car mirrors & green laning can get proper clattered. So all in all not a good design. Finally on this point you're hands have very little air-flow in hot weather & in winter I'd want to be using muffs which will block the indicators. Holes around the spokes in the hubs get filled with dirt & even after you clean the bike. Small ride will dislodge that gunk & make the cleaning process a two fold affair. I've filled with industrial silicon the inner & outter holes to clear that issue. Exhaust system looks naff even after a few hundred miles, if I wasn't going for a different exhaust I'd get the system ceramically coated too keep the thing looking good aswell as move heat out from around the bike. The temperature certainly rises into nigh on three figures if you are stuck in traffic so been confident & filtering go hand in hand. Buy a side-stand extender....its a must do if you fancy parking on a grass verge!
I rode one for about 80 miles while my dvt-s was being repaired. good points feels very similar to my s (thats good) Bad points seat is very wide, pushing my legs apart. I noticed it more and more as the ride went on. ( I don't mean the tank, I mean the seat base.) legs felt a little more cramped. Apparently you cannot raise the seat on the enduro.
You have the option to buy a lower or taller seat or get standard re-foamed & covered in your spec by a third-party of course. Again small adage, the rear indicators made from osram bulbs are shite, so I opted to get some seriously bright LED can-bus complient ones from usa. The bike steers so easily & if you try to counter-steer it takes less than a few millimeters to sling the bike over from side to side.
