Long story short, for some stupid reason i took this bolt out, then put it back, won't bore with why. Now my brake lever comes straight back to the bar, what have i done?
you won't be the first or the last to do this - if you have nipped it up tight (not too tight!) then you could just try repeatedly "exercising" the lever over and over a few times to see if you get any change - i.e. slight recovery where lever does not come all the way back to the bar. If you do get anything then moving handlebars so master cylinder is more upright might help during exercise. Ok - so standard procedure bleeding is the definitive answer but the above can almost restore/completely restore action sometimes.
Thanks, i watched a ducati service vid on how to bleed, so i undid the reservoir cap, put hose onto the nipple, cracked the nipple open slightly and pumped lever a few times, with lever pulled back tight i nipped it up and put all back together, seems to have cured it, i have done the right thing?
Sounds correct mostly. If it were me, I would crack the nipple slightly then gently pull lever back. Before releasing, I would tighten nipple then gently release lever. I would repeat this a few times until lever pressure was restored.
Cool. The reason one re-tightens the nipple before releasing the lever is to prevent air being sucked back into the system.
