I am looking at buying a motorcycle lift to raise my bike off the ground when cleaning (old man, bad back lol). Any recommendations from folks on here? the bike is a 2013 with no centre stand.
I was going to get an Abba stand as they are highly recommended, however whilst this would help in the garage it wouldn't help for a puncture repair or chain lubing whilst on a tour so I went with a SW Motech centre stand, its brilliant! Hauptständer SW-Motech Ducati Multistrada 1200 10-13
Mine's home made, but a friend's bought one of these and it is excellent http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009P0TEUS/?tag=ducatiforum-21 It looks exactly like others variously badged Draper, Sealey and Clarke Tools - all probably from the same factory in China. As for the stand issue, wheel your bike on and use a paddock stand. Or one of these, rather than the front wheel clamp supplied, depending on which you feel more confident with... I bought a second hand one of these for £50 a real bargain . Ideal because you can set the bike at various levels which is more handy than you'd think.Plus its got a tap door so you can drop the rear wheel out although I dont use that I put my bike on a paddock stand on the lift. The only downside with this particular model (sealey) I found is that the chock which locks the front wheel can damage it , so I removed it and simply cable tie the brake lever. HMMM Borgo beat me to it ,1st loser again !
I also have something similar to the (mines a Sealey) just make sure you get the right model as there is a smaller and bigger one, mine is the bigger 450kg model and the table is also a little longer at 2.2metres I think which is enough to get paddock stands on both ends.
