The 1098 comes with these as standard and I was thinking of adding a set to my 848 wheels. Anyone put a set on before? How do you locate them on the rim? I notice the kits come with a little plastic locator thingy but it doesn't look very effective....
Clean area, spray on a mist of soapy water apply rim tape. The soapy water allows your to move/reposition the tape.
Just make sure that you get the pre curved tape. Trying to get a roll of it straight on the rim is a nightmare.
Hi Ian, If you want some of the pre curved 4 segment ones let me know and I'll cut you as many as you like out, to test with. Mine has the type that your talking about, keiti with the cassette reel on, and I ended up binning the cassette and curving it by hand, which is a pain in the ass, but I think it looks better in one piece, especially as mine are white not red, as the joints show up when they get muck on them. I just started and stopped either side of the marchesini logo, but the evo won't have marchesini's on it so you can do the full 360. I bought the keiti tape, rather than make my own, but curving the tape is not that difficult, it just takes time and patience to get it right. I'm back at home next Wednesday, so give me a shout if you want to try some. Anth
Cheers guys - I didn't think about the soap application, same as ventureshield! Doh. Anth, cheers - I'll try and get some this weekend but may gvie oyu a shout!
Every time I've done it I've just put the bike on a paddock stand, used the little applicator and spun the wheel round, simplesssss.
I had them on my blade then put them on my 848 but I ended up taking them off as they didnt look right for some reason. might try the ones you have nelson.
