V4 Wheelie Control Settings For Track

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by AirborneSi, Feb 27, 2021.

  1. Morning All,

I have my first track day on my V4S coming up (Cadwell Park) and my last bike (GSXR) didn't have anti wheelie electronics, so it hasn't been something I have considered before. So my question is, do you leave the bike in race mode and leave everything alone or do you alter different elements of the electronics?

For clarity, I am not a aiming for lap times and do not need to set the bike up to inch out tenths of a second in each corner, I just want see if the standard settings are great out of the box or if fellow track dayers change certain settings as they need some adjustment - I appreciate TC, SC etc will depending upon weather conditions but really not sure about the wheelie control given the number of different settings.

    Thanks guys

  2. Definitely have it in race mode. I honestly can't remember what setting I have wheelie control and I'm away working so I can't check. But wheelie control works really (wheelie) well. Beware of being too cautious as this definitely bogs you down a bit gassing out of corners. I think I've got it one notch from almost off. Works well, enjoy :upyeah: It will rise but keep it gassed and let the pixies control the power down :imp:

  3. What age is the v4? The newest gen doesn’t really wheelie that much with stock geometry

  4. That's true. Mines the slightly wilder 2018.... I think 44 teeth covered the new V4 in their vid section... check it out :)

  5. Sold my v4 a while back but IIRC wheelie control in race mode is level 2 as standard (certainly no more than level 3 for sure).

  7. Hi Advikaz,

It's a 2020 model, I haven't amended the individual settings so far, and have stuck with the pre-setting for sport etc. I agree ref the wheelie's, as I only get them at the moment when accelerating hard from a slow speed, but with lockdown and only road riding, I haven't be able to push the bike hard yet.

  11. That's an option. Especially on the MY20 bikes. But on mine MY18, you still get some flighty power wheelies in 3rd which requires roll off when wheelie control's off. Wheelie control dials this out quite nicely. But it's that friggin long ago I can't remember which setting

  12. Just calculated this:
Cadwell Park Mountain + Ducati V4 wheelie control OFF + full THROTTLE + lockdown induced inexperienced rider =
    THE MOON?!

  13. I doubt even wheelie control would save you there (mountain) Too much physics going on. I'd love to pin over there, purely out of interest.

    On someone else's V4S of course :D

  14. Think your be fine unless you switch it off all together! Then you could be in a whole world of sky ways scenery :astonished: Especially in race mode..... factor in a slightly lighter bike with quicker gearing and it’s a really lively! Even without a few little ripples in the tarmac..... and pretty much in the first 4 gears..... But it fun:D:D

  15. I also think along with the softer map lower down on the later bike, plus the wings it will be a lot less flighty and prone to rising as aggressively......

  16. Turn it off, smash the gas, then check it it won’t wheelie ;)

The mountain can play havoc with DTC and AWC so may be trial and error
