I have never been on a track day and so really no very little about booking, attending etc. Previously I had always thought it was not for me, but I'm coming round to the idea. I have a Panigale with Termi end cans. Now I learn this maybe a problem due to noise constraints. Clearly Im not the first so where can I go in the South of England. Thanks
MSV at Brands Hatch have run what you brung events throughout the year to encourage novice riders in an environment where the aspiring racer is discouraged. They also do absolute novice days. There is a basic hotel at the entrance to the track if you don't like early starts and the whole thing is run very professionally. My advice is that you would be hard pushed to find a better start to your track experience but be warned, it is very addictive. Andy
Entry-Lists event looks full ow but worth joining next year. They do a two day event too, as well as other stuff or MSV do good days, they do novice only days too
They have a limit of 105 dBa, do you know if others have passed the static test with Panigales with Termi end cans. Ducati address Panigale trackday noise issues - Motorcycle news : General news - Visordown
The tester at Brands is experienced with the Panigale and it's the drive by at 102db that you need to pass. I run a 748R with a 50mm race system and have not failed nor has any other Ducati I've been with this year. Andy
never seen a pani fail, MSV particularly seem to get how it fails but is OK on ride by. Put in baffles (if you have taken them out) Actually the termi seems quieter than standard
Been to Silverstone, Donington, Brands and Oulton on my Pani this year. Brands I blew a 108dB, the tester stuck a pass on me and said it'll be fine on ride by (that was a 105dB indy day). Oulton was 102dB static and ride by, blew a 106 and the tester spoke to his boss who said it should be fine, but told me to keep half an eye open for a black flag just in case. It was fine. Both Silverstone and Donny it was just ride by and I had no issues at all (I'd have been pretty upset at one of the Silverstone days if I'd been called in with the Desmos and SL's that were kicking around!). That's a Pani S running standard cans atm.
Personally I would go to Silverstone as a first one. Two reasons: Firstly its a long lap so the bikes are more spread out so less likelihood of a nutter taking you out when overtaking and secondly, its a big wide track too. And nice and fast too.... If or when I do another I will probably do there again, although I loved Rockingham the two times I did that....
Silverstone has some nice run off areas too, seen a few of them! Fortunately not on my arse to date.... Is a nice track to start with though, found it gives you a little time to catch up with yourself as well, whereas some tracks are a little more intense.
