1200 DVT Where Could This Vibration Damper Come From?

  1. Where could this Vibration Damper come from?

I had to lift my fuel tank to get to the connectors beneath it so I unscrewed the tank cover, side covers etc.

To my knowledge this type of Vibration Damper is not used in for the bodywork/panels that I removed to be able to lift the tank.

Still, when refitting the bodywork suddenly this Dampers drops from my bike onto the floor.
It dropped down from somewhere near the headlight.

  2. Think you’ll find it’s either the oil cooler rubber mount or off one of the front nose mounts. They’re a pain in the arse to relocate and can sometimes drop over the course of time, if not located correctly.

  3. Tank locator bung. Could have previously not been correctly located.? Google a schematic Ducati parts list.

  4. I checked the parts list but I am still clueless as to what a tank locator bung is?? Sounds useful in warfare though….

  5. Front nose mounts first oil cooler. Easiest to see. These vibration dampers are used in several locations.

  6. So far I have checked the headlight mounts, oil cooler mounts, coolant radiator mounts.

maybe it is a damper which went missing and was replaced in a previous service
