Which Heated Gloves?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Rosso, Dec 3, 2015.

  1. Looking for recommendations. I have a pair of (non -heated) Rukka R Star Dual chamber gloves at the moment for the cooler stuff but still get finger freeze. Cant bring myself to carve up my 899 to put heated grips on. Any recommendations ? Ideally want a recharchable battery option rather than wiring myself into the bike. Apologies if this has already been asked but new products are released all the time & would appreciate some up to date feedback.

    Cheers.

  2. Yeah, probably better off asking on a BMW or Triumph or couriers forum etc.

I want something too, when I look at most 'winter' gloves they just look like an unprotected bulky joke compared to decent race gloves, makes my poor little fingers wince.

Looks like the ones with in-glove rechargeable batteries don't put out much heat and don't cover much of the finger tips if at all. The ones that plug into the bike seem more useful in that sense.

    Then there's heated glove liners.

Looks like it's between these two for gloves Gerbing XR-12 and Furygan Vent, liners I dunno there are a few types.

Think we're on our own with this one here.

  3. I have tried some Keis inner gloves and they are fantastic for heat with the optional heat controller, good for comfort, but putting on 4 gloves and faffing about with the wires is a bit of a pain.
If I end up using them on the Multi then I will extend the wiring and mount the controller on the bars where I can reach it.

I am thinking about the RST battery powered gloves, all in one solution with no wires to fumble with, if I get some then the Keis will be sold on.

  4. Yeah went to NEC today and checked out the Gerbing . Looks a decent enough product but as you say heat output & possibly battery life is a consideration. All the demos were hardwired unsurprisingly . Also the battery packs are relatively heavy and make the wrist circumference massive when installed which could cause concerns depending if you are a 'in' or 'out' wearer.
Re: other forums, yep I'm on the fireblade forum , might get more joy coz it's illegal for those lads not to ride below 3 degrees..

  5. Mate you're right - so much style and faggotry associated with this brand makes me sick but WTF it keeps the brand/spares alive.

Only have Supersports and Superbikes but am seriously considering fitting some 'brush guard' type of thing to one of em so that I can ride it in the cold (and practice this art) whilst still retaining enough feeling in my friggin fingertips to maintain total control.

It's the windchill on the outside surface of the fingers that is the killer.

Heated grips are just for fags that should have travelled in their car. They do sweet FA in real terms of the problem.

Please do post back if you try something. I'm gonna have to in the next week or two and will post here FWIW.

Perhaps a little controversial , probably explains why BMW make cars too..

Will let you know if I sort anything.

  7. I have Keis heated gloves and they are brilliant. Make sure you get the dual powered gloves so they take a portable battery as well as hardwired to the bike. Heat output is enough to keep you toasty, and battery life is approx 2hrs for me. Longer if I use the heat controller and turn it down.

The battery is small and not noticeable.

I have just bought a heated jacket as well, so I can use this on my long walks in the wild.

  8. I've been using a pair of Gerbing heated gloves in the depths of winter for years. Mine plug into the sleeves of my heated under jacket (which in turn is plugged into the bike), and the use of a dual controller means I can set the temperature of gloves & jacket independently from each other. Works well.

  9. RST heated gloves are good .. charge the battery pack then it fits into the cuff ... Up to 4 hours heating on min and 2.5 hours on Max setting ... Best I've used

  10. I have a set of these. You can find them around £180 in Europe and Moto Legends will price match.

They're not as good as hard-wired, but are still a big improvement over non-heated gloves. Having said that, they only heat the back of the hand and fingers (as do most, I think), so heated grips complete the job.
