Which Kriega Rucksack?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Dave, Nov 11, 2012.

  1. For use on trips away on my D16RR. I am torn between R25 and R30. I don't want to go too big (R35 defo too big) but like the fact that the R30 is waterproof. I'm hoping (guessing) they will be at the NEC show so I can check 'em out but I wonder if any of you have any views?

  2. Not got a Kriega, but have been able to get by for up to 4 days away with a 30L. 25L seems to be not quite big enough to fit a pair of trainers, jeans and enough t-shirts and trolleys.

  3. Thanks - that's a useful insight :)

  4. went for R25 as shorter length in back and therefore better fit for me - would have gone for 30 otherwise - yes they are at NEC but don't expect a discount !!

  5. I've had both and kept the R30, a much better bag in my opinion and the extra space is handy!

  6. I have a thirty, and it is great, loads of room for a few files, laptop and shirts and shreddies for a few days. Having said that, they are a lot of money for a rucksack; I would look around for something closer to £50 next time _ after all, £130 sovs for a bag, madness !!

  7. they are pricey but very well made and comfy. the main roll top sealed pocket of the 30 is very waterproof (outer pockets not so great)

the 25 and 35 both leak at the zips a bit in heavy rain

if you want to find something cheaper make sure it has chest strap otherwise you will kill your neck doing life savers

  8. Just to close this out - I had a good long chat with the guys on the stand today at the NEC. Once I explained what I would be using it for (multi-day trips away rather than commuting) then they recommended the R30 over the R25, so I bought the R30.

  9. welcome to the kriega club!

  10. I have a Adidas back pack. Got it from primark for a fiver and it is black. It is waterproof as long as it does not rain. It did not want to fit a 17" laptop so had to buy a 10" 1.2kg laptop. That alone saved me 3kg of my back. Best choice I ever made, thank you cheap backpack.

  11. BTW Dave so do you have different bag if you do not commute on D16? Also when you talked to Kriega people did you actually say to use it on my D16RR?

  12. He probably did, as he seems to find it impossible not to throw the words 'my D16RR' into virtually every post. Strange how most D16RR owners don't seem to have the need to broadcast the fact at every opportunity, but I guess that's so typical of the 'nouveau riche' brigade

  13. Give the guy a chance, maybe he's worked 24/7 for the last 20 years to get one?

  14. Wants from me it is just banter Dave is a gear guy. Still banter he deserves as we are all jealous of such bike ;)

  15. Howdo!
I use an R35 daily and don't find it to big - great piece of kit. Agree they are expensive but got mine of flea bay as new for £85. Well recommended.

    Cheers Pablo

  16. LOL - I didn't ... but I see what you mean and I know it's just banter

The R30 is for trips away - I won't be able use my old Ventura pack so I need an alternative specifically for this bike.

  17. When you realise Dave's surname is "Cameron", then you'll figure how he has such a nice set of bikes and tidy garage down at Chequers ;-)

btw, you not looking to flog the givi sv850 now you can't get it to fit "the bike who shall remain nameless", perchance?

  18. no 'fraid not.

  19. can you guys tell me - the pack looks like it has metal buckles right at the front? Do these not foul the tank when leaning forwards? I tend to ride laid on the tank so am concerned the packs will mark the tank of my bikes?
i want one for my gym gear and commuting - not sure which to get at all - the 25 30 or 35!
