Some of you may have seen the small refurbish thread I had under the builds and projects section, I have just finished a 916SPS. I always get itchy feet when I have 2 bikes that are similar and given that my 3 bikes are a 748r, 916sps and rg500 I can’t fight the feeling that one of the ducs must go. In my head I think I have already made the decision, but looking for general consensus really. Here is the lowdown on the bikes. 2002 748R. 7000 miles from new and 2 owners, full main dealer history, completely original. I’ve owned for 2 or 3 years now. It’s an immaculate, original bike. 1998 916SPS. 9000 miles from new, full history just undergone a sympathetic refurb and now in a very clean state, really looks the part. Plaque missing from the headstock, but verified to be a genuine SPS, and obviously all the history also states it to be a correct bike. Has all the right bits. I’d have thought the 748R would return about 10-10.5 and the SPS probably about 12-12.5 ish. What would you keep, and why? Pics of the bikes as below
Doesn’t need to, but it would help. I also keep thinking about selling the RG500, . I have a tax bill looming, cleanest way to pay it is using one of the bikes to free up cash for other things
“I think that would be a very hard choice” Amen to that. You might be right. I have a delta integrale, you can see it in my profile pic - I was planning on selling that and just had a load of work done in anticipation, but after getting it back that thing is incredible and I’d be hard pushed to move that on
What you have paid and have spent out,you are ahead in the money game,so play the long game like the other toys
748 R is a fantastic bike,, but it’s a 748 the baby of the family The 916 is the daddy and not only that , it’s the COSWORTH of sierra’s if you get my drift ,, SPS all the way for me
