Yeah I managed to break an oil cooler mounting tab on a 999 head (don't ask, am already beating myself up). I guess no one here is going to know the alloy composition of Ducati heads but some of you may have, or know someone who has, weld repaired a Ducati cylinder head - if so which rod composition do I need to use? Any other tips? (Apart from don't crack em in the first place eh...) TIA!
4043 would be an all round choice and will work OK if that what you have but the better choice would be 4047 slightly less tensile strength than 4043 but its better at preventing porosity and produces a nice weld, won't anodize but I guess you don't care being a C/Head you are fixing Just make sure its ultra clean before you weld it This is where I get all my welding supplies, nothing like the closest to me but great service http://www.rapidwelding.com/dynamic/TextSearch.aspx?t=2&s=4047
Thank you VERY much Mr Kato! Will do exactly as you suggest and will post the results here. Thanks again - much appreciated! Ps. Just clean with lots of Acetone yeah?
