Looking for which weight ohlins oil i need to be using in the nix 30 cartridges. I have the correct part number but the manual / service info i have doesnt include the weight. TIA
I’d suggest 7.5 weight, https://www.motul.com/gb/en/products/fork-oil-factory-line-light-medium-7-5w. Andy
I noticed in my 750SS forks that I've just had SD25 cartridges installed by Maxton that they use a different oil in each fork leg, (not weight although the weights may be the same, but certainly a different type). These cartridges are the same as the NIX30 cartridges in that they have compression damping in one leg & rebound damping in the other leg. So, I'm wondering should these forks have different oils in the two legs, is there any benefit in doing this, I'm certain Maxton do it for a good reason, but I haven't questioned Richard about the reasons for this ? I'll have to check out exactly what oils Maxton use & report back. Just been to check & the left leg, (compression damping) uses Putoline HPX2.5 & the right leg, (rebound damping) uses Putoline Formula GP5. Obviously Maxton set my forks up for my bike, a '94 750SS & my style of riding, which I stated was normal road use. These points will obviously have a bearing on what springs & oils were used, but I'm guessing whatever the logic for using different oils in the legs would hold true whatever the bikes use is ?
I can only think that’s because each fork has a different purpose and they believe needs a different type/viscosity. Not that many modern Ducati’s, certainly adjustable suspension ones, do that. Or they ran out after one fork and grabbed another!
