Why Are There So Many Pani R Bikes For Sale?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Noods, Aug 27, 2016.

  1. Was looking on e bay and was really surprised as to how many Pannigale R 1199 bikes there are for sale and how their prices have fallen..

What's not to like? Anyone know why so many are being traded in etc... I know the 1299 is surposed to be a friendlier package but even so...

  2. I'm only guessing, but if older 1199R then guessing wanting upgrade to the proper full monty 2015+ 1199R and maybe the few 2015 1199R being sold because to wild for road use and some born again bikers bought them, rode them and then realised it would be safer to sell to have a much longer safer life and keep there licence.(lol)

  3. Reading between the lines the first gen r is not quite a r the second gen r is a r or a bargain price sl.

  4. Didn't PCP kick off big time and get lots of press about 3 years ago....looked on eBay and a few of them are 2013 bikes....coincidence?

  5. What are the differences between the 2013 bike and the latter current R model then?

  7. A foolish investment if you were dis-illusioned by the hype at purchase. Always amazes me how many people buy a bike without prior research, word of mouth, talking to other owners, test riding one. If you'd done half of those you would know what you were getting into and if the bike was "for you" or not. Many of these models will end up being augmented in value a few years down the road, much to the consternation of their owners who let them go at current market value. An R model will command good money when the market supports it and that means some years from now. I understand the need to sell if something doesn't suit, but sadly these owners will never realise that increase. IMHO the moral of this story, if there is one, is to ensure the bike fits your needs not it's intended purpose, as the two often differ wildly

  8. I was wondering the same thing myself.

  9. Very very good .. And very true words....

  10. I'm reliably informed it's 3 years mTe ...

  11. I must admit I quite fancy one as an occasional ride and keep long term... The only thing I don't really like about the R is tha Ali showing on the tank, but could buy a second tank and spray it as I wished keeping the orig too.. Have to admit though I've never actually seen one! Ok we have dealers nearby now but would like a look at one.. I also like the Tricololour too nice paintwork but don't think it will be a collectable really in the future..

  12. I've seen a few in my local dealer, they don't look any more special than any other Panigale visually. I use the ally tank to initially tell if the bike is an R, oh and I think it is their best feature. :)

  13. Above seems to sum it up. Expensive S vs cheap SL.

    No brainer

  14. The new R is an absolute weapon, honestly makes my 1199S feel like a friendly old pussy cat. For someone who is just riding on the road I wouldn't recommend it over the 1299S but for track riding it is stunning. It takes some getting used to power to weight ratio and needs a proper setup as a result but you'd expect that of any race bike. It has the titanium pipe and carbon parts everywhere so it does look impressive but it's the engine and the light weight that you're paying the money for.

  17. Slow, ugly, unreliable and sound like asthmatic pond pumps so people are trading them in for KTMs? [IMG] [IMG][IMG]

  19. I have another mate looking to join the R club and it turns out there are no more new 2015/6 1199R available in the UK. Ducati have to register any bikes they are going to import into the UK with the DVLA now to get around the euro 4 regulations which I believe means they need to already be built so they have the frame numbers, etc.
