Oh dear, that was an expensive day off work. This morning I went to Riders of Bristol to test ride a Diavel and a skyhook MTS1200 touring. Next Wednesday I collect my brand new shiny red Multistrada! The Diavel was surprisingly good and very quick, but I wanted something that we could do some 'proper' touring on. My trusty 999 is a keeper, but no good for pillion riding let alone carrying luggage. That's three bikes to fit in the garage now. My only concern with the mutley is the seat height. I'm on tippee toes at lights and junctions, which for just me is ok but with Claire and luggage on board I'd be concerned of toppling over (very uncool). Maybe the lower seat might be a good idea. I can't wait until next week, this is only the second brand new bike I've owned. The first was a 1982 Kawasaki KX250 motocrosser. I was seventeen back then. I better get on and sell all my redundant dive kit, to pay for the Leo Vince full pipe and tricolore paint scheme. Cheers Deaks
I bought the lower seat. It's nice now. Actually the bike feels really low compared to my hyper SP. Now that is a high seat.
Where did you get the low seat from? is it the Ducati performance one? I also have a Honda CRF450, that's very tall but only weighs 110kg so not really a problem Cheers Deaks
I got mine from Ducati Aylesbury. I bought it with the bike. Although they do post out for around £7. I'm not sure ill have to check. Ask them for the lowered seat.
with pillion, my feet are well planted with standard seat, I also have a lower seat but it tends to spread your legs slightly wider, as for exhausts, im getting 200 miles to a tank of go go juice, so staying with a standard exhaust.
Congratulations - don't worry about the seat height - it gets easier with the pillion. If I am doing a lot of solo town work, I tend to use Urban with just rider and that allows me to touch down ok (5' 8"). Once you are used to it it is fine in my opinion.
