I really don't understand this. Seems a fairly regular occurrence from the middle East and further eastwards. Why do people in dense crowds suddenly decided to stampede? What's it all about? Hajj stampede: At least 717 killed in Saudi Arabia - BBC News
Blimey, can you imagine trying to get to the loo at a gig like that? On a lighter note, I bet the sales of Percil were through the roof on the run up to this. Other detergents are available.
I wager that it's like a huge crane toppling on your place of worship, a very complicated way of saying "Allah really loves you" Either that or its just what happens when hot headed, irrational, chest beating, medieval dick heads gather in a small place
Bloody typical it's happened when I've just been awarded the franchise to run the bars for the whole gig, cost me a fortune as well.
Ahhhh my friend that's it is it? Still got no idea whilst certain types of people feel a need to stampede... Is it 'BOO!' the gooley man arrive(eth) or what? Bloody spooked cretins imo. The sheep are the masses. Always has been. Always will be. Ps good evening FE! Top bloke mate and top respect to you! Have a good one!
I have some personal experience of a stampede. In the mid 80s I was at a reggae concert in a park in Harlesden, watching, I think, Desmond Decker among other people. It wasn't a massive concert - no more than a couple of thousand people, probably less. I was a fair few yards back from the stage, surrounded naturally by other people. Suddenly, all the people in front of me turned around 180° and ran at me. Bear in mind that the people immediately running at me were no more than a couple of feet in front of me. Animal instinct takes over immediately. I too turned and ran as a massive shot of adrenaline flooded me. I ran at the people behind and they too turned and ran. Not to run meant that you were trampled instantly. I remember a small girl who fell, but you had no time to turn and pick her up - to attempt to do so would mean that you would be knocked down and trampled. It was extremely frightening. What was even worse was that it happened again a few minutes later. What caused the stampede? I never knew. There were rumours of some people in the audience with knives or guns. It was a very odd experience, but a very interesting one (although I hope it never happens to me again). What is obvious is that there is no "decision" to stampede. It's flight or death and your body chooses flight instinctively. What is surprising is that given the modern propensity for massive gatherings of people at concerts, football matches or indeed religious events or public transport systems, it doesn't happen more often. When you see the massive amount of pilgrims at the Haj, in a crowd with nowhere to go, you can see how so many people would die.
and at the end, they get the privilege of chucking a stone at a wall. Muslims like to chuck stones regularly, particularly at adulterers and homosexuals
