I honestly don’t think the guards would do much in a contact situation. Especially as half the people who run them have them fitted like floppy dildos. mine bent round and crushed my hand on my last get off. but probably better than nothing
I know that one of the reasons no limits made them mandatory is because of Baz crashing at snett last year! It was pretty much the same crash at turn 1! Really sad!
I agree mate. However from what I know of Baz’s misfortune, I’m still not sure that a brake guard would have done much to mitigate what happened
TBH I'm not sure they will stop it always, more likely when coming out of pitman and bumping into a pedestrian it will help. But, it was a topic on here a few days ago, and this is the ultimate outcome if unlucky enough I have noticed that the cheap chinese ebay ones you could get a pair for a tenner are now £45 each.....
you’re probably right buddy! The irony was he had ordered one and I spoke to him a week or two before and he was really pissed that it wasn’t gonna arrive in time! He did take a lot of risks though that’s for sure!
I’ve done 2 Trackdays this season and seen 2 brake guards on the track! Hit one in redgate at donny and narrowly avoided one on the back straight at snett. Keep yours eyes peeled as they get everywhere
Pretty crap if there more a hazard than not having one. I can see alot of them potentially being poorly fitted and you have to question what testing and integrity is there on the cheap ebay / Chinese ones? If any. Good idea in principle but if we end up with a proportion of them being poorly fitted, poor quality and potentially ineffective items, then it begs the question if it was a good idea in the first place?
