Presume the loading would be the same but would it be a straight swap? (from a 2008 model IE to a 1995 model carby)
No! Top yoke needs to be bigger. Bottom yoke needs to be smaller. Wheel spindle diameter is smaller on carby. Caliper bolt spacing is larger on ie. So, can be done but allot of faffing about! I might be wrong. I put 916 forks on my carby! Same issues minus the caliper bolt spacing. I ended up machining my top yoke, shimming my bottom yoke and using a 916 front wheel. Also, homemade speedo drive!
Thanks for setting me straight on that. I'll have to keep looking for decent replacement carby 900 forks.
Fork leg dia are same top and bottom yoke as carby. Legs are longer as ie bars fit above yoke. 65mm calipers on ie + different hoses. 25mm axle. Speedo drive has different gearing.
If the forks are from an SS/IE they will fit the yokes ok as they are identical in size, but as the others have said you will have to use different bars, a front wheel with a 25mm spindle and alter the speedo drive. I used some clip-ons that mounted above the top yoke and had a 7 degree angle to the bars which gives you an almost identical bar position as the standard carby bike [emoji1303] I found the IE bar position a real pain in the wrists...
