  2. getting pretty strong here
not as strong as a couple of nights ago

  3. Tonight I went to leave the drive with the missus in her car , as we left I told her to stop . A telephone line had come off the cottage about 100yrds down the road on the opposite side , it must have been swaying in the wind from side to side and ripped the barge board off her top dormer window resulting in it hanging diagonal along the road at shoulder height , not easy to see as it was black plastic coated wire.
I got the missus to put her hazards on , then I held up the cable for cars to get under. it must have just come down before we left as it would have been ripped right down if a car had been through it.
I couldn't stand there all night so I phoned the police , not 999 I add just the local police number. The desk officer fucking well asked why didn't " I phone the telecoms company ". I said" I don't think they'll be there at 8.30 so I've phoned you ". He again asked if I'd give them a ring in a very cant be arsed way , So I said " no I want you to ring I'm holding the phone line up for cars to pass under , god forbid some nutter is out on a motorcycle and comes bombing down the road ".
" Oh yeah he said " I'll sort it.
Guess what nobody turned up so I cut the line with a pair of pliers , should have done that first and saved myself the trouble .
Whats the bets the recorded phone conversation and my number coming up will get me a phone call from the telecoms company asking why I've cut their cable .
If they ask for reimbursement they can swivel.
All down to the frikkin wind.

  4. If you did not mention cutting say you know f all about it, when you left it was still danger to public.

  5. you just know that there are more trees down somewhere

  6. It's very windy here and has been since about 6 last night, I'm sure we can feel the house moving.

  7. In London I have just been out with my dog, the wind is strong but relatively little damage to be seen, a few fences down and a small tree in the park and that's it so far.

My garden had one loose fence panel and a few things scattered about. Biggest problem is dustbins, recycling boxes flying around and some road works cones

  8. well fair bit stronger winds last night
no major damage to be seen other than my garden wall
fence panels above the wall are still attached but the posts attached to the wall have damaged the wall
ahh well another job to do

  9. There was so much wind last night that I kicked her out of bed and asked her to sleep in the spare room.......

  10. Its been OK here ( for us anyway) in bristol, were at the top of a hill shielded on both sides. Not saying it hasn't been windy, it has, quite surprised as I be got a 1m motorised sat dish on the chimney stack which hasn't moved....

I do feel very lucky considering what's happened around the country...
