Conversation piece of the moment...ACF all the way. fS is shite and they should be sued for claiming it does anything other than wreck your bike!
Obviously pictures speak volumes, though I would suggest the control method used is flawed. Everything tested was done on how you would apply ACF50, spray and forget (for an allotted time). FS365 needs to be reapplied after a wet ride / wash as it is water soluble. So the fact it was being sprayed with salt water regularly was infact washing it off. What should have been done (and as per the instructions) is the FS re-applied. I am not endorsing any of the above products. But if your going to do a comparison then you at least must use them the way the manufacturer intended ?
Using ACF-50 for the last few years and its hard to fault tbh. Anyone i've recommended it to has said the same.
Tried many things over the years keeping my 1976 RD350 in good nick, lots of chrome, bare ally casings and polished ally detailing, fins, etc. I discovered ACF50 3 years ago and it is definitely the business, only needs a couple of applications with a paintbrush each year.
I love acf50 but find the spray goes everywhere and runs out of puff before the can is empty. Still not found anything better.
I squirt a bit into the cap and put it on with a brush, less messy and saves the propellant. When it runs out of gas you can puncture the top and squeeze it onto your brush, at £15 odd a can you don't waste it.........
I always pop the can and put it in a pot at the end. I think you can get it in a pot rather than a spray but my last can lasted 5 years so no complaints
+1 best method by far because a small amount goes a long way. Spraying from can applies too much and makes one hell of a mess.
I switched from WD to GT85 a couple of years ago, does a better job and isn't quite as pricey as ACF (which I must admit I haven't tried yet as the cost puts me off - this is someone's cue to drop a post in about cost / benefit analysis given the price of the bike!)
don't know if you missed this Matt - but good candidate for a thread merger :- http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f16/wd40-v-fs365-v-acf50-winner-18407/
I got a bottle of acf 50 last week and sprayed over the bike and run a cloth over the bike. I just wanted to know, what do you use to take it off?
!!! Fairy liquid!?! Nope, too abrasive. I always use a nice quality proper soapy wash stuff, its the olny time I wet wash my bikes nowadays
a little goes along way, I'm still on the 1st can i bought years ago leave it on all winter its sticky will pickup lots of crap though normal bike shampoo is not quite tough enough a good going over with SDOC100 gel and a soft brush then rinse with a low pressure hose takes the AC50 and the gunk all off very well. its also supposed to leave an thin corrosion inhibitor on exposed parts too. you will prob want to dry the bike afterwards if you ride the bike on salted roads you should still rinse all the salt off with cold water ASAP (i.e. whenever you get home) if you want to maintain the best possible finish even with ACF50 i think Fs365 works ok as a rust preventer, but washes off much quicker so needs to be reapplied , but as a result also easier to wash off than ACF50 when you want to
