World Cup

  1. Anyone watching? Saw a piece today on how it’s the most polluting event, of any event, ever. And their ‘carbon offsetting’ isn’t actually carbon offsetting: it’s a scam. Which they all are, btw.

    FIFA execs should be sacked.

In other news, the Argies went down like the Begrano sisters….England let two in against Iran! And after the Saudi win, the price of goats went thru the roof….

Steering as clear as I can. Not watched a game yet, few snippets here and there but that’s all. Wrong county. Wrong time of year. Wrong message.

    C’min England!

  2. Watching the highlights, but then that’s all I do these days haven’t the attention span for a whole game.

FIFA execs that were involved have been sacked, I see no reason to sack the current execs they’re just running with the ball.

Argies underestimated the Saudi’s played poorly. England can’t stop every shot on goal they’ve lost to worse teams.

Steering clear but start a thread on the subject? There’s already a WC thread running.

  3. Is there? Haven’t seen one. May have been started by someone who has me on ignore: I can’t see their posts.

  4. Belgium got very lucky. Should have been 3 down by half time, if Canada had a striker

  5. Ah but they don't -coulda shoulda woulda

  6. Haven't watched any of it.
Have absolutely no intention of watching any of it.
Already bored of hearing about it...
A load of overpaid lawn-fairies poncing about for 90 minutes of professional cheating...
The sooner it's all over the better.

  7. I am surprised at how many football haters there are on the forum. I love the game and being a professional player is not all beer and skittles to say the least.Of course the top level players are highly paid for what they do but a footballing career is relatively short lived. To true football fans the World Cup gives a great opportunity to watch and enjoy the best players in the world perform.

  9. To succeed at top level football isn’t easy, I have known a couple of pro footballers. The amount of players that go through academies to be binned off at 16 is eye watering. As you say it’s not all beer and skittles, but then newspapers don’t sell good news stories.

They’re basically owned by the club for the duration of their contract, large restrictions on what they can do in their free time is the norm. Your career can end at any moment due to injury.

  10. Some incredible results so far. Although now it seems to be normalising…..

England or Portugal for me. Although I think France or Spain will win it.

Love the Japan var decision kicking the Germans out ;)
