Worth

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by aidanj, Mar 14, 2023.

  1. Been a while since i have been on site - emigrated to the KTM area for a bit.

    Anyway, quick question.

1098 streetfighter, white, 10000 miles, 59 plate, termis , open clutch basket, tail tidy, seat cowl, paddock stands front and rear, adjustable levers (originals as well) very good conditions - rough idea of worth.
Its gets used very occasionally and sits at the back of the garage under a cover.
Have a spare tank, spare end can, and was planning on getting belts and desmo service done.

    So - value as is
Value with belts / desmo service done.

NOTE this is not a FOR SALE add, just feelers to see if its worth selling or keeping. I will follow all forum rules and advert will be posted accordingly if i do decide to let it go.

  2. A quick look at eBay, top end £10500 and bottom end £7500. Desmo service is more a selling positive rather than added value IMO although you would negotiate a lower price if it hadn’t been done. This, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/27565995...5awqjlKy9dqPafHZCCus8+Ow==|tkp:Bk9SR-rb_5TcYQ, is a guide although I’d not buy this one because of the quick shifter. More quick shi**er for the gearbox if not absolutely set up properly. If you are buying, offer £9000 tops but if you are selling, ask £10,000. Andy

  3. I had the desmo/belts scheduled over the winter but couldn't face getting the bike out the garage what with the crap weather. Bike is only every used on nice sunny days.
I will get the belts/desmo done as if Im keeping it would get it done anyway, and as you say if I do decide to sell, will help resale

    Still can't decide.
I always said it would be a keeper, and my youngest lad has his eyes on it .

    Decisions.
    Thanks for thoughts Andy, appreciated.
Values as I thought, and can't see them going down in price anytime soon.

  4. Some pictures would be good, plus an idea of where you are located. A SF1098 is on my list. Andy's values seem reasonable.

    PM me if you prefer.

  6. Some pics before it was returned to garage before the bad weather arrived.

  7. The original SF 1098 was never a great seller, 2009 was the best year when launched, they only sold about 10 in 2013 in the UK, a rare thing in the black and grey colours. They are starting to interest the ‘younger generation’ which can only be a good thing for future values..

I’ve seen nice original examples for sale at franchised dealers up to £15k, trouble is Streetfighter seemed to attract too many being messed about with with cheap aftermarket parts..

  8. Cheap bike at 5.5
Should have kept it at that price.
    But needs must I suppose.

  9. I was in profit at 5.5k when I sold it.
Was a hard bike to sell. They were never a good seller when new, and that seems to carry on now. My old one has sat in that dealers for quite a while now.
The S models seems to do ok though.

  10. That more an S value isn’t it that top end? As demonstrated above, 5-8k is probably the range depending on if happy to wait to find the right buyer or want rid

  11. They didn't sell well. This is (was) mine in the dealer in 2013. They sold it for £7.5 in the end.

That was a decade ago - I miss that bike. It was absolutely mint.

  12. So eventually found a decent day, bike went away to get another set of belts changed (5th set in it life so far). Had the valve clearances checked and very little needed adjusted. New front tyre fitted for peace of mind. Currently at 10122 miles......bank account a little depleted.
Back in garage all tucked up tight.

Still debating whether to keep or flog, but at least it's all serviced up (time wise).

Interestingly Ducati specialist who did work reckons with min mileage bike does, new belts will be fine for 4/5 years.
