Wos this then?

  1. This bit fell out of a packet when i was moving some stuff that I'd got with the Mutley 1200 when new. Not a clue what it is. Anybody know?

  2. Front brake hose guide.

Just google the number, it will give you parts drawings

  3. Cheers, but why was it a packet and not on the bike I wonder?? Can't say I've missed it?

  4. I think and don't quote me on this, it is a blank to be fitted when you remove the front mudguard fender extender. I may be wrong.

  5. Yup. The UK bikes come with the mudguard extender as standard.

  6. Yep that makes sense as, thinking back, they did say something about fitting an extender. I thought they were referring to just the larger rear wheel hugger they fitted but obviously not. However, looking at what is laughingly referred to as the front fender extender I would never have guessed that's what it was!

  7. You have a choice of that piece, or the normal rear part of the front mudguard. It seems most people use the longer normal part, because that does bugger all.

Its the same principle that the S touring gets a short and a wide/long rear hugger, so you can choose which you prefer :)

The longer bit is not a fender extender, its just the longer option. There is a fender extender available from pyramid plastics (or sold on ebay etc) that extends this further.

Incidentally if none of you have already looked, check your front brake hose !
It rubs on the rear of the normal / longer front mudguard piece. Mine has gone through the braiding in one place...
If it failed it could get very messy, so worth a check every now and then.

  8. IIRC, the longer guard has the same hose guide setup as that short piece?

  9. Hi Doodle,
yes it has, but it is the longer sides on mine that have rubbed the hose.
The central part of the hose has some heat shrink around it where it sits in that guide, but not further down.
I have a picture which I will try to post tonight of the hose. you can't actually see the damage unless you take the rear part or all of the guard off the bike, because the hose is inside the guard, and how many of us do that for the fun of it :wink:
Maybe this should be a seperate thread...

  10. I see. Mine was always clear of those bits, even more so now I'm running a different line for the M4 conversion.

  11. Have you got a picture Doodle ?

My hose goes over the top of the support, but inside the guard extension. I dont think it was long enough to go outside. I know for sure the hose I bought for my M4 conversion is not long enough to go outside the guard.

Trying to upload the pictures, but maybe they are too big - going to try to resize them... DSC01614.jpg DSC01617.jpg DSC01620.jpg

  13. I'll have a look at mine next time I'm in the garage.

However, I've got carbon guards on mine (front and rear sections) so it might not be quite the same.

  14. If this is a common failure it ought to be subject to a recall.

  15. It is......some Dealers fit the 'fender' rear part / extension as part of the PDI....others just hand the part over.
