I came across an add for a Panigale 899 from CSS (California Superbike School). It was up for £4400! and snapped up within minutes. As far as I remember it was a 2014 with 2500 miles and stated that it was used for track training but returned to standard now. Wil it go bang or be fine ?
The CSS days are generally aimed at cornering, and don't really get thrashed. From what I understand, they make them run on rain mode too, so not even used at full power Normally, they come up for sale at around 8-8.5k, so that's a really really good price. The road fairings are removed by them, and then refitted when sold, so they should be as good as new I'd have bought it at that money, and used it as a second track bike
Where did you see it advertised, as they have their own Ebay seller that flogs off all their bikes at the end of their season ?
it was on gumtree yesterday, looked all genuine and was gone 10 minutes later. it did indeed state that they are getting rid of all their bikes as its end of season ready for new stock to arrive.
I bought an ex css R6. It was fine; so much so I converted it back to a road bike & used it for a couple of years before trading it in. I have done a few levels of css & the bikes don't get pushed that hard (didn't in my hands anyway).
They normally list their bikes around the end of Oct for about 8.5k, and they're normally snapped up pretty quickly, so thinking about it, that does have scam written all over it
Right, well i just thought they are ragged to shits and thats why they are sold cheap. Looks like someone did a copy/paste job and amended the price
My friend bought a Haslam school CBR600 and tbh it had a couple of questionable dings in the frame, looked like a handlebar had impacted it in a crash. He bought it with 2 year warranty from a Honda main dealer so my only experience tells me to be careful or look very very close. Afaik, the CSS ones have to be kept in sport mode and aren't allowed in full power with TC OFF which although can still mean the engine is ragged u would hope not, certainly shows a cautious attitude towards them
I'm doing a CSS day in April, so I might ask if I can get first dibs on a bike at the end of the season. I quite fancy a lightly used 959 for £8k as a track bike
A lot of track toys are very pampered and get very well maintained. I know for sure mine does! I'd have no problem at all buying a well sorted and maintained track weapon. Follow the usual stuff, maintenance, condition and price of course. If it's a Ducati I'd factor in an engine/gearbox rebuild on a purchase offer. Good to go!
Bear in mind also that the CBR is one of the most durable Sportsbikes out there (exactly why they use them)!
Instructor said 'ride at 75%' the. When we came in 'are you sure that was 75%?!' It was. So thrashed during and after
Btw it was full power but with tc on about 4 and they checked when you went out It came on every corner in the afternoon
Good afternoon Madame you wanting to buy Panigale for £4400 that's 50'000'00 Ugandan dollars please Madame. If I could take your bank account and sort code.
