Bought a ST2 last year with 26k on the clock, belts had been changed the year before at 25K at Italsport Bury Manchester. I have just changed the belts putting 73710081A belts on which are the ones listed for the ST2 but I have taken off 73710031A belts which are for a different machine. Does anybody know why they would fit incorrect belts ? The bike had been chipped for open exhaust but being a old git I put it back to standard.
Been digging on the internet, a ST2 belt has 70 teeth, the belt Italsport put on for a 748/916/996 has 71 teeth, which explains why it was so slack. The previous owner spent £453.97 on this botch job that could have killed.
