BMW shit as always I feel for haslam you know. I heard some real crap spouted about him last year at Honda. Bautista who is also world class did nothing on that bike either, now he’s aboard something half decent he’s up there again. Goes to show!
World Superbikes: Rea secures race one win at Aragon after thrilling battle https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/northern-ireland/61049803
Just watched on rerun. Rea back to his super aggressive ways, not seen since he was riding that dog of a Honda. Bautista looks promising…..and Redding must be laughing all the way to the bank: wtf would he have taken that shite ride on otherwise! Now best he can hope for is a development riding year….
Only shit race so far was the 300's yesterday. Been great viewing and you have to say the quality of both fields (WSB and WSSP) is really noticeable now you see so many more ex moto gp and moto 2 riders on the grid. Nice to see the Ducati back in WSSP
However shit that beemer is (and it looked shocking in race 2) you have to wonder who’s been advising redding through his career. The move to bmw can’t just be about the money because he’s not short of a few bon and it’s not like it’s the first time he’s jumped out of the frying pan into the fire is it. Am I right in thinking it’s his uncle?
He couldn’t even stop the hunk of shite would love to know if he was promised something that hasn’t materialised or just made the biggest mistake of his career.
I don’t know or have any insight but I have a feeling he didn’t have a great amount of choice and bmw are likely paying him big bucks.
I just dont get it. Didnt he have an option to stay with Ducati but didnt believe in "the project"? or some such? Theres no way he went from being that desperate to be world champ to going fuck it ill take the pay day and run around in 24th,
No idea mate. I can’t really remember the ins and outs. I don’t know Scott either so unsure on his thought process. Maybe he generally believed bmw can be a winning package. I’d imagine their budget is one of if not THE biggest. I spoke to a brand manager for motorrad a few years back who said the germans weren’t happy about their performance historically at high level and that it was a bit of a sore subject that none of the s1k gens had won anything on the world stage or even really anything outside of stock. You get the impression they’re trying very hard but for whatever reason it’s really not happening
Don’t forget, first Ducati WSS podium since Nanelli (?) on a 749R back in 2007. Great racing, especially the Superbikes!
My view on the Redding/BMW ride had nothing to do with Redding. Ducati will be looking at what they achieved with Bautista and then Redding, Bautista moved for $$$ to Honda and 2 years later and zero wins or going forwards zero chance of wins he's looking elsewhere. Ducati saw an opportunity, probably paying him far less than the first time around and it's see ya Scott.
It was interesting to hear Hodgy say how Jake Dixon had nearly left the GP paddock on multiple occasions and taken a payday back in BSB. He mentioned "a couple of hundred grand a year" was on offer. (Dont know if that included sponsorship deals)
Shame all Toseland does is bang on about how much more power and faster the ducati is, like that’s all to takes to win. Real Rea fanboys on that booth. Great racing tho. Close, hard without being over the edge, pushing the boundaries of rider, chassis and tyres.
Who is that other commentator anyway..all he’s interested in saying is how they “almost touched..” - he seems to be obsessed with saying that!
Well, I was wondering why the duck is allowed to rev higher than the kwak when theres a quite obvious top speed advantage there. But then again Ducati having a differing set of rules isnt unfamiliar is it? Rea is obviously the best rider on the grid, Toprak aside. (he is going to get even better). Say what you like about bautista, he's not (imo) in the same class as Johnny. Johnny could make an underachieving Honda do things. Bautista will eventually bottle it. Toprak will destroy him over the season.
