Hey Crew, I just joined this forum. My current ride is a 1999 Super Sport that i bought back in 1999. I have loved it and kept it. 60K Km on the clock and it is still sweet. I figure that after 20 Yrs it might be time to buy a new bike. Im looking to put my feet forward and wondering about an XDiavel. Off the showroom floor or at least an ex 2017 demo. I have read some good and some bad comments. Any input from current owners or bike nerds is very welcome.
Plenty of good info in the davi setion with a lot of riders making the change from sport type to relaxed type, plenty of info on the plus's and minus's on the bike itself too. welcome
Last year I moved from a 749r to a Diavel Carbon Red. Stunning bike and love it, really glad I made the swap. Every thing is, or can be brutal, the power delivery, stance, aesthetics etc There are very few, if at all anything, that I can point out as a negative. Many owners complain about the standard suspension being impossible to set up. My bike seemed OK 95% of the time on stock suspension. I swapped the rear shock to Ohlins and this seems to have fixed the harsh standard rear suspension. There is quite a decent post on one of the Face Book Diavel forums, were a Diavel X owner has moved to a standard Diavel. He says that the standard Diavel is nicer to ride than the X Diavel. Suggest you try both versions before making a final decision.
Just had test ride on x Diavel found the ride to be harsh on my rump after just 30 minutes found the knocks and bumps annoying. Power was great, fast cornering it pushed out in corners and wind blast in chest over 80 was tough on neck. But looks great and sounds great i tested a Harley and the Ducati was so much better testing a Indian Scout bobber soon before i decide
Lots of talk about the rear suspension being a bit harsh. Im just in around 80Kg but will look into upgrading to an Ohlins shockie if required. A few wet days here and looking for a bit of time off. Wednesday week is looking good for a test ride. I have a pretty open mind on both bikes but there is a lot of plastic buffing the Diavel out . The XDiavel looks a little leaner and striaght up. I think youre right though. A ride on both machines is definatly neccesary. [ QUOTE="Carbon749, post: 1184025, member: 248"]Last year I moved from a 749r to a Diavel Carbon Red.
