What is the general consensus of opinion of Xena disc locks? Are they worth the extra, is an ordinary disc lock just as good? Who the hell takes any notice of an alarm going off no matter where it's from? Will an alarm going off send thieves away? Are they as indestructible as the American marketeers say they are? Etc? Just one more deterrent.
I have an XENA 14mm disc lock and its excellent and F**KING loud , its a great deterrent , But if a bike theif wants your bike they will get it no matter what I have mine on at home in the garage and you only have to touch the thing and it goes off , so you can react batteries are about £9 so thats not to bad either , get one they are worth it
Yep, I have had one for about 4 years. I don't use it to deter thieves as I know it won't but it does alert me when it goes off that someone is near or touching my bike (it's highly sensitive). I use it in the garage mainly. Haven't changed the batteries yet either so they seem to have lasted a long time. Hope that helps
I have one of the mini ones - XZZ6. I't nice and compact but, and may have been unlucky, with limited use, I found that it would simply go off at random even with the bike parked in a garage (so no movement). The cost of a replacement alarm unit (at least XENA sell them) was not favourable compared to the price of a new lock, so I use it with no battery now (but nobody else knows). It was loud enough that I put ear defenders on when I was experimenting/diagnosing.
Thanks guys. You never know if these things are worth the extra or is a basic one just as good. The more you can deter these morons the better. I think we should still be cutting their theiving fingers off but then I am becoming more liberal in my old age.
If you want a disc lock as a deterrent, I reckon they're as good as it gets. For a disc lock. I've got one and its uber sensitive but it does the job.
If I had my way Sam, I'd be cutting more than their frigging fingers off - worst sort of scumbags IMHO
