1200 DVT Y Shaped Hose Issue

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Twin4me, Jun 21, 2018.

  1. Whilst we were at the EMM one of the guys bikes started losing fluid. As we had a spare day before it started we investigated and discovered it was a tiny hole in the Y shaped hose (right by a yellow mark). Jules, the owner, had never had the recall done and he was never notified.

We had to strip down the whole of the top of the bike including the air box to remove the hose. Being Sunday in France we had no chance of getting a spare so we risked a repair using superglue and Sugru. We got everything back together and the bike ran well after throwing up a few warning lights (which went out after about 3 miles). Repair held up for two days of hard riding so hopefully it got him home without having to use Ducati assistance.

You can see water coming out of the hole when we squeezed the other hose

So if you haven't had it done call your dealer!!

  2. Sugru... magical stuff. One of our clients but can’t wangle a discount

  3. Sugru - I bought shares in it (and lost most of my money when they recently sold out to a larger company!)

  4. Always thought the product was a touch too expensive really. Lots of trendy indie people spending £2 worth of Sugru to fix a broken handle on a 60p metal colander.

  5. True, but it worked like a dream on that hose!
I've also used it to repair a patch on my boots worn by the gear change. I usually carry some when I'm abroad and I'm glad I had a packet with me.
